Hi all

My daughter (aged 8) has recently been diagnosed with alopecia, and has lost almost all her hair very quickly. It's been tough and she's been a bit up and down about it, but in general she's been very brave and a real inspiration to me. She'd love to meet other kids who are going through the same as her. Can anybody help? We are in Wellington, New Zealand.

Thanks!

Good morning,

I just saw your post. My daughter was diagnosed last April right before she turned 8. Started with one patch and then she lost everything except in a few spots. In September she made the decision to shave the rest of her hair. She cried because she felt so free and didn't feel like she had to hide. Every so often she says, while I'm doing my hair, she wishes she had hers , but for the most part she loves it. She made up a song about it. She says bald is beautiful and all that matters is who you are on the inside. She has been the one to help us get through it.
Tell your daughter she is not the only one, my daughter loves meeting other people with alopecia, especially kids.
Hope to hear from you. :)
