I have been told that oral steriods have more side effects than injections. I have been getting intra muscular Kenalog shots for the last 5 months with limited success. I have not ever heard of Imuran, but then I have only known I've had this since February. I would recommend asking your doctor why s/he has decided on these medications rather than the ones that are typically used to treat Alopecia and/or getting a second opinion. Good l uck. Jodi

He told me that with his many years of experience (my case is quite severe, heading towards total baldness) and that it would be very unlikely that any topical treatment would work. He will be giving me intramuscular shots also. I went to my GP whom I trust very much and she said that it really makes sense to take Imuran because it is used for people with immune system disorders (kidney transplants, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, etc).

I had totalis and I have a full head of hair now after a few months of treatment with squaric acid(topically). It's not FDA aproved cause it's a chemical, not something a drug company can patent.
