Hello, I am new here and recently diagnosed with androgenic alopecia. My doctor suggested using rogaine for 6months before we look at other options. I would like to get some feedback from other users, success or unsucessful...please help!

Hi Krystin, I didn't particularly care for it. I am very sensitive to perfumes and chemicals, so I really didn't like the smell. Also, I had hair grow on my face and arms, (Eyelashes looked great though.) From Googling it seems that my results aren't that typical. I was always very careful with keeping my hands clean and covering my head after application. Maybe I was extra sensitive to it for some reason??? Also, I have a scarring alopecia, not androgenetic, so maybe that was a factor as well. In any case, once I stopped using it, everything went back to normal in about 3 months, so in the end, it really didn't hurt anything to give it a try. I was using the 5%. Which did your doctor recommend?
Hi Krystin: I have been using Rogain for woman for the past 3 yrs. At first it worked my hair grew back within 12 weeks. Then it started to thin out. Recently it all fell out again. I am considering stopping Rogain altogether; if it does not grow back as my doctor said it should. I'm giving it 3 months and plan on shaving my head and getting on with my life. In other words; it is not a long term solution for me. Take care.
