I live in the South Island, I can't make it up North, but am keen to fundraise and start support groups and am also keen to get on to the government for more subsidy to cover good quality wigs.

Hi Lex....There is the Princess Charlotte alopecia group that is aussie based but is supported by New Zealanders.........as far and support groups go in NZ unfortunately there isn't much. Our get together this weekend is hopefully going to be the start of one up North........perhaps if you wanted to organise something for your area, then who knows if we get enough interest nationwide we could organise a yearly get together like they do in the states wouldn't that be awesome!!

Bex Torbay is on the Northshore.....I am sure there are buses (check online) I don't know much about Auckland buses as we live in Whangarei........I do hope you can find your way...........did you get my email with the address?

Ok so I've been told that Torbay is waay up north auckland? So how do we get up there on public transport? or can anyone give us a lift we live on motutapu island & don't have a car, so we'll be ferry'n in to town & then busing if possible.

Hi everyone, I'm really looking forward to meeting more people with Alopecia. I've only had 1 meeting in CHCH when I was younger & at the time I was by far the youngest person there by a long shot! It was held by my old wig lady, but now I buy my own wigs, mainly from Wild Pair & Lippy, which are in most malls, they're cheap, but with some great style & colours! Also I love celebrity wigs in Australia, I've got some lovelly wigs from them! They're not lovelly human hair, but for me who changes my wigs with my moods the more different colours & styles the better! Does anyone else know of a good place to get stylie wigs? under $500?
