You are so right Paul We need to have just one body that we all work to support. Are you coming to Hamilton? i am interested in what they have to say and what comes out of their meeting. those of us that are going will be letting everyone know what happens.

The problem with it all is people who would be willing to get involved and organize things like support and calls etc.

What need to happen is a collective effort across the country, I started my sites as there was nothing at all and then a few different things (NZAlopecia,AlopeciaAotearoa) have popped up which has been great. The last thing I want to see if some of the turmoil that I have witnessed in other countries where different alopecia groups fight against each other.

I agree that we need a national body to support us. Maybe this will begin when some of us will meet in Hamilton during Labour Weekend. sEE YOU THERE. It may be the start of it all happening --who knows

Hi Ginny, your msg came through on me email but I can't seem to find it on here about what I would have liked to know straight away when I got Diagnosed. My answer would be contacts, people who we could talk to with the condition any support groups, especially being able to talk to people face to face in Christchurch! Then from them I'd hope to gain more info understanding & wigs suppliers etc.
I feel like we need a more organised support group in NZ I find facebook, web sites, even this isn't quite connecting people as well as it could! I'm not sure of a solution, but I'd love to discuss it with others in Hamilton at the conference!!

Watch 20/20 on TV2 this Thursday 19 September as there is an Alopecia story on it. Also check out the Hamilton Alopecia Information weekend on 26 October - go to www.alopeciaaotearoa.com for registrations. Looks like there are quite a few people going so should be great.

A small group of people in Hamilton are holding a mini conference on the Saturday of Labour weekend. My hubby and I are going. Go to Alopecia Aotearoa to find out. Well done to them for starting the ball rolling for getting information out there.Paula facebook and I can get in touch
