Wigs for children
Has anyone gotten a free wig from a non-profit organization? I've been trying to contact children with hair loss but had not luck. I like to get one for my 6 yr old that looks natural and that will stay on especially during school. any advice Thank you

They have hair replacement centers in their program, so you can shop for the one that's most suitable for you. They are not required to have wigs made at any one factory, so the quality and system will vary. Take your time to learn about the ones near you.
I like to advise people with hair loss to leave their credit cards and check books at home when visiting hair replacement or wig shops. Make several trips to scope them out and get information. I'm sure there are exceptions ( where are you?),but unfortunately the hair replacement industry is known for making people feel pressured to buy something on the spot. And what I suspect many would do to a parent is to drum into you the "retail value of xxx dollars" which you have no way to verify....to always make whatever they provide appear to be a huge bargain. It may not always be such a bargain. Processed hair is very cheap. It is a world apart from unprocessed virgin hair, though both are "human hair".
yes, I am cynical but it is based on case after case of parents and women telling me their experiences and my own eye-opening experiences to the downright deception and dishonesty of some sellers.
Some shops may be trying to cultivate new customers. It's always good to get to know a variety of products and make your decision on your own comparisons. But in the back of your head try to remember that every wig or hair replacement center no matter how charitable, wants to turn you into a customer of some kind.

I got a real hair wig for my daughter from a local dealer who has a "Wigs for Kids" programme. Instead of the $2000+ it was going to cost, he only charged $250. Where do you live?

I live outside of Toronto in Canada. We were unaware of the program until we went in to try some on so I would suggest calling various wig dealers in your area. Good luck!

Children with Hairloss has ran out of funding at this time. You can still purchase a wig from them however. I did and It is pretty good. I however still have to get it trimmed.

I just started filling out the forms for Wigs for Kids. Kayla hasn't asked for a wig yet but with her impending start of Kindergarten in a few months, I don't want to be caught between a rock and a hard place if she does ask for one. Has anyone ever gone through Wigs for Kids?

I just wanted to let everyone know that Ariana was approved for her free wig from wigs for kids, I called to make the appointment to get her messurements and stuff and to my surprise the stylist that is going to do it for her has AA as well. I know she will take care of my daughter she sounded very nice on the phone we're happy to finally meet someone else with the condition.
