Hi,
I am new to Alopecia World as well as to this group and thought I'd say hello. Also, have the members been successful in gathering for a meeting? Is that something that members of the Seattle group are still interested in? I have contemplated seeking out a support group in Seattle, but I have been a little "gun shy." Has anyone attended a support group and if so, did you think it was worth the time? I have had AU for about 2-3 months now and think I could learn a lot from others who have experienced AA/AU for a longer time. Thanks!

Hi Kathryn-
I can relate to your post. I started losing my hair in January and within a month I was totally bald and now have AU. I live on the Kitsap Peninsula and have been looking to attend a support group in the Seattle area also. I have found this website to be very helpful---this is a strange disease and all the information I can gather is empowering!
Hopefully we will meet someday at a meeting.
Take care, Tracy
Tracy, wow! I thought my hair loss was rapid, but yours was gone in a month! Had you experienced AA before this? Have you tried any treatments? My dermatologist (who I was happy with) recommended another whom she thought was more of a Alopecia specialist, but she is out in Sequim. I did schedule an appt, but at this point I think I will cancel because I decided not to persue treatment. I think I'm too far gone. I am trying to focus on more general health. I also would like to meet at some point at a meeting. Thanks for the reply, Kathryn
Hello Kathryn! As far as I can tell, this group has not had a lot of activity. I am pretty new myself; but am not aware of any get-togethers that have taken place of been planned. I am in Olympia, so I wouldn't generally be free to get up to Seattle, except perhaps on weekends. Welcome to the group, and I think it would be great if a few of us could meet for coffee sometime.

Hi, Beth, thanks for your post. It would be nice to schedule something, although perhaps logistics is the reason nothing has happened yet? Coffee would be the perfect casual meeting venue. How does the group go about actually setting something up? I'm certainly open to ideas.
Kathryn
I am open to ideas too? My daughter is beginning classes at UW this fall (actually, today!) so I hope to be making it up to Seattle more often. In fact, I will be going to my hair guy on Saturday: William Collier in Belltown. If you aren't familiar with him, he is terrific. His salon specializes in hair loss clients (chemo, AA, etc.) Where do you live?
Beth
I got a wig from William Collier about a month ago. They were awesome! I've been recommending them to others.
I live in the central district, not too far from the u-district. It's short notice, but if you have a little extra time on Saturday and want to meet for coffee, I think it would be fun. NO pressure. Just let me know. If Saturday doesn't work, just keep me posted on other times you're in town and we'll set something up.
Hey Kathryn! I just sent you a PM. Let me know if Saturday works for you.
Beth
