I am in process of writing a book titled: Boldly Bald Women The purpose of this book is to explore the option of women facing alopecia without wigs or hair coverings. It will be a tapestry of acceptance and encouragement woven from the stories of women who are daring to step out and live boldly bald. It will be published by Nightengale. I am still receiving responses from women who would like to share their stories with those facing baldness who have felt alone and who believed there was no other choice besides wigs and coverings. If there are any women among you who would like to participate in this project, please let me know. I also have a blog at boldlybaldwomen.blogspot.com if you are interested.

I'm here and ready to interact with awakening the minds of our fellow human beings, who lack the knowledge , understanding...empathy and compassion for people with Alopecia.I have ample confidence to stand side by side and help the world accept...and dissrobe all the negative perceptions about our facade...cause it's so hard for them to see the "man...inside the man"
the "woman...inside the woman"

Hi everyong,

I recently posted a blog:
"Coming Out Bald at the Synagogue - What the Bible Says about Baldness"
that I think is relevant to this discussion. So, I thought I'd mention it here in case you didn't see it.

I like to think that I have used my difference to make a difference and intend to keep on doin' it. I have been AU for several years now, however, I have had bouts of Alopecia since I was a child. In 2006 I got this idea to get a tattoo on my head - but not just any tatto - I was going to get on on TV. Somehow I convinced Miami Ink casting that it was a good idea and I have never looked back. You can see my video on youtube by typing in the search box "joyce on miami ink". It may be listed somewhere here on the site. When I figure out how to do it I will post a link. I have to figure out how to post my profile pic first! Miami Ink was wicked fun and I have heard from people all over the world. I called the local papers before my show aired and got front page coverage. I will continue my (exhibitionist) efforts to raise awareness. Stay tuned!

Hello at all,
I´m 40 years old and living in Germany. This is the second time I do have AA universales (starts again Okt2008). First time was 2002 and I was bald for 3 years. Lucky I am, I had nearly 2 years (End of 2006 - Okt2008) full hair, wimpern and eyebrown.
I don´t like wigs (even I do have a very nice one). Most of the time I wear an bandanna (headscarf like my foto). If it is hot enough (in Germany )I go out with nothing like I am.
I feel good bald but I don´t like that I don´t have any wimpers anymore. I am thinking about permanent Make Up(eyeline) but I do have a lot of respect of it.
I do like alopecia world and it is always great to meet people like us all over the world.

Nice to see positive comments on being bald really because not all is bad with it, We all need to reinforce the good not the bad because there are times it becomes enough and nice to come here and read the good things,, Ok my fellow gorgeous bald friends have a great weekend of not worying about hair color, styling, greying etc, etc.

Welcome, Margaret! One of the happiest days in my life is going to be the day I'm out in public somewhere, and I see another proudly bald woman, just by chance, who I don't know. I hope it happens someday, but I'm not holding my breath!
