Vancouver Alopecia Areata Support Group

Hello Vancouverites! Connecting is one of the best ways to feel happier and become more informed! Come as you are, whether you are shy or outgoing. This is a genuine and fun group where all of us - new to alopecia or experienced, hair-wearer or au natural, seeking treatment or not - all come together and be supportive, informative, and positive for one another. After 4+ years of running this group, I can say for sure that you'll feel better after a meetup! :)

Come to our monthly meetups, or, start by joining this group and be in the loop of upcoming meetups! Sometimes I include alopecia news / remedy / stories too.

If your kid / teen has alopecia, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with other parents! It'll be, I believe, quite awesome for your child :)

Join us here and we'll send next meeting details to you in a group email!

You can always get a hold of us via AW messaging or at alopecia.vancouver[at]gmail.com

Hi Lizzie! Welcome!! So glad you found us! :) This is a warm and amazing group. You are probably getting pm'd by members already!

@Chris We miss youu!! Good luck on your exam - I know you'll do stellar. Would love to have the meetup hosted at your house next (and maybe at Mo's the month after :)). I like the idea of a watching a movie, possibly after our "regular programming" of catching up, geting to know new members, etc.

Suggest a day in October and let's do iiiit!!

Lizzie - have you been exploring alopecia websites? Happy to chat about which ones have good info . . . You will see some discussions above that may be useful to you as well. : )

Hi Lizzie - welcome to the group. You will find that there is a lot of experience here in this group with regard to hair pieces, doctors to avoid and those who you want to see. Feel free to message me and I will send you my phone number/email address if you would lke to chat :)

Maybe suggest it to the cofounders, Tanya, to see if this is something that they can implement?

I feel as though I have been out of touch with you guys and I really miss my alopecia family so I came here to say hi. HI! I am writing the Acupuncture license exam in two weeks so my nose has been in the books for many weeks now. I would like to host a meeting at some point - perhaps btwn the middle of Oct and the middle of Nov. if this works for the group (and we can watch Food Matters if you like :)

Hi all:

I just found this site and can't tell you how relieved I am to not feel quite so alone... I am really looking forward to meeting some of you and hopefully getting some great advice! My hair has been falling out since March. You still can't tell when I have it styled carefully but the loss has been continuous so it is most likely a matter of time. Any advice on how to cope, good doctors, etc, would be appreciated...

Tanya, Dana and all, I know it's late notice, but it looks like I will be able to meet you all for coffee at Artigiano as I have finally got things sorted for tomorrow. What time about? I just learned how to enter a new contact into my phone and have entered your number, Tanya, so I will text you tomorrow. Ciao, JLo

Dear All,
Cat had a really good suggestion at the previous meeting: we invite our closest friends and family to a meet-up, so we can share our alopecia experience with them.

Please post your thoughts about this one on the wall! Also Cat, please feel free to put it in your own words.

xoxo

Hey Dana & all! We can also meet at my place which is a 2-minute drive from the Starbucks (or a 10-minute walk). You can park in my guest parking space too. I can show you both wigs then - before and after I style it! (Also, the Starbucks is now replaced by Artigiano! Surprising hey? :))
