Vancouver Alopecia Areata Support Group

Hello Vancouverites! Connecting is one of the best ways to feel happier and become more informed! Come as you are, whether you are shy or outgoing. This is a genuine and fun group where all of us - new to alopecia or experienced, hair-wearer or au natural, seeking treatment or not - all come together and be supportive, informative, and positive for one another. After 4+ years of running this group, I can say for sure that you'll feel better after a meetup! :)

Come to our monthly meetups, or, start by joining this group and be in the loop of upcoming meetups! Sometimes I include alopecia news / remedy / stories too.

If your kid / teen has alopecia, please contact us and we'll put you in touch with other parents! It'll be, I believe, quite awesome for your child :)

Upcoming Meetups

This group gets together monthly at one of the members' homes - a cozy, positive, and fun environment, for those with alopecia. We are here to support one another, and every meetup has been amazingly mood-lifting.

Join us here and we'll send next meeting details to you in a group email!

You can always get a hold of us via AW messaging or at alopecia.vancouver[at]gmail.com

We are affiliated with CANAAF (Canadian Alopecia Areata Foundation).

Next meet up: We meet about once a month. Please email Tanya at the emil address above!

Chris: It's something I found from some oils I've been using. Not sure if it will work. Shall we wait to see if Dana has some success before we go forward with it? I don't know if I'm supposed to be sending lotions and things across the border, but I'm going to anyway. I can give you the website for the oils, and you can tell me if you're interested in purchasing some. I just made the lotion from a class I took, and added the oils specifically for RA. The website is everythingessential.me. Go to the "health concerns and wellness" and then click on A-Z. Let me know if I can get anything for you. I'm going to send Dana hers over the next couple days. Our Thanksgiving is tomorrow. So it won't be until after that.

Deanne - what is the concoction that you made for Dana for RA? I have a patient who suffers terribly - I would love to purchase some from you. Please send me the details! Thanks!

I came across a lady with AU today! I never ran into anyone with alopecia - that was a first! I invited her to find us here. I hope she does! :)

HI Elenore! Great to see you on AW! Looking forward to next get-together!

Hi Tanya, sorry about being out of the loop these last few months. Looking forward to meeting your group in January.
Jana, did I meet you at the NAAf convention this summer???

Hi All! I forgot to also mention BIE ...haha. It stands for Bioenergetic Intolerance Elimination.

I can't say if it worked for me or not, because even though I was allergic to shrimp 10 years ago, I didn't check if I was still allergic before the BIE session. Afterwards, I wasn't allergic to shrimp..but it could be related to BIE or not at all :)

BIE claims to fix allergies in 1 session. I wanted him to fix my allergy to my hair lol, or to yeast! He found that I was sensitive to meat, blue berries, and melon, and tamed my sensitivities for those foods. It didn't improve my hair though.

You can read more about BIE here:

Hi SilkHead!! Welcome to the group!! :)

I read your blog and I LOVE what you wrote and the person you have developed into over the years. I'm so glad you found us! And yes we get on ok without a support group, but we have so much fun with one!

The next get-together will be in January. Sorry it's a bit of a long wait! We've been holding it once a month, but December is a crazy month!

We are a new group and have only met up 3 times. I like everyone so much, and think you will too! Looking forward to meeting you soon!
