So, this is a discussion that has been recently posted, but I thought I would narrow it down to just those of us who wear Freedom wigs.

I flew this past November wearing my Freedom wig and did not have any problems going through security. And I will be flying again next month for the Conference.

My question is: Has anyone here flown VERY recently while wearing their Freedom, and was there an issue going through security? Did the metal in the temple areas cause an issue at all? Was anyone escorted to a "private room" to remove their wig?

In the past several months, there have been some news-worthy events that indeed may have created a surge in security measures at the airport, but I wasn't sure..

Thanks, everyone!

I don't have a FW yet but has anyone had problems with normal wigs and flying? Don't normal wigs have metal in them? I am scared stiff to fly now...
LD, you have nothing to worry about. I just flew to Boston from San Diego the 3rd week of April and I had no problems with going through security. I even went through that new x-ray thing where they x-ray you from head to toe and there were no issues there either. I have never had a problem wearing my FW flying and going through security even with the two older Freedom Wigs that I have that are both 8 yrs old. In fact, those two I have traveled the most wearing them and the new FW that I recently got back I went to Hawaii in August with it. So, nothing to worry about LD.
Thanks everyone for the replies; I appreciate it!

Porcelinh, thanks for your feedback, too. It's comforting to hear that your experiences went well. I know what you mean about the x-ray thing. I have often wondered if they can tell you are wearing a wig. I've seen specials on tv about how those x-ray machines work, and they detect what appears to be EVERYTHING. I've thought, if they can detect a gun or a small metal device, what else can they detect? Like can they see whether I'm wearing an underwire bra, or not? Just a thought, but it's good to hear from someone who has a lot experience with flying with "freedom". Thanks, again.
Hi Everyone

I travel regularly around the world with those that wear Freedom hairpieces. We have been to Europe, Uk, Asia, Australia, NZ and the USA. There has never been an issue. We went through USA security last October and will be going through again thisJune.

Hope that helps.

LD, that did cross my mind when I went through the x-ray scan at the Boston airport. I'm sure the person in charge of looking at the x-ray image was probably aware I was wearing a wig but, that should be the least of his or her worries. They are just doing their job and they could careless about me wearing a wig and flying. They didn't stop me or approach me with any of their concerns. Enjoy the conference next month!
Thanks porcelinh & everyone for the sentiments!
I went to Jamaica in Feb, and didn't have any problems whatsoever.
