Hi Sam, I did lose a lot more hair as soon as I started using Regaine. It lasted a few weeks. I panicked and brought forward my derm appt. however, it eased off and seemed to stabilise, until the sugar rush that is Christmas! Things have calmed down a little since returning to a more "measured" diet. But it was interesting to see how much of an effect diet possibly had.

Hi, I have been using rogaine 5% since early October and didn't really experience the shed you are describing although I have heard that it happens. I think my hair feels thicker and I do see hair growth-not where I need it but I'll take anything at this point!

Does anyone have the heavy shed with Rogaine when you started it and if so, how long did it last? I started using it twice but stopped both times because I start losing even more hair than before. I get panicked and stop. Just curious if anyone else has this problem. Thanks!

Jean, as I understand it both Regaine and Rogaine are brand names for minoxidil, but one is sold in the UK and the other in the US.

Please can you tell me if Regaine and Rogaine are the same product?

Many thanks

I know my dermatologist said that the foam is usually less irritating.

Thanks Maddy, just found article that describes the liquid as being oilier than the foam so I will persevere.

Rita, I have used both, and honestly find that there is not much difference between the foam and liquid in regards to how often my hair needs to be washed. I think the liquid probably does go on a bit easier, but I find that it is also quite a bit messier to apply. I have spilled the bottle on accident a couple of times too :(.

MJ, I've only used Rogaine foam for a week now and although no flaking, find the foam very difficult to apply just to the roots. It also dulls the hair so that it needs washing daily which i really don't want to do as that is when more hair sheds.

To those ladies that have used both the Rogaine 5% foam & the liquid, which type would you say have made it necessary to wash more frequently?
