Hi Anna,I'm an American, and my beautiful bald wife (who also has alopecia universalis), and myself, are huge fans of yours.
You are not only one of the most beautiful bald women in modeling, you are one of the most beautiful women period, whether wearing your bald look, or in a wig.
  • Vicktoria (Katya's mom)

Hi Anna, It's great for my daughter to see the photos of you in the wig and without. She is 12 and has AU. At this point she always wears wigs but maybe in the future she will be comfortable both with a wig and without. Seeing your success and openess helps her stay confident as she starts out the teen years.

Hi Fitzy, I just learned that I can view comments on my photos! I too don't like fake looking brows and am such a chicken to have them tattooed. So, all I do is use a medium brown eyeliner/eyebrow pencil and draw them on. After so many years I think I finally got it! I think the key to getting them looking natural is one I'm done drawing them I take a tissue and "blot them" (like you would with lipstick), and I use my fingers and apply gentle pressure then remove the tissue. After that I use a translucent powder to "set" them. I always used to wear bangs too until a couple of years ago when I switched to this wig style with the encouragement of my guy (He thinks its sexy and more mature on me).

I love the au naturel photo of you on the black backdrop, I think I'll do some photos sorta like that too. Keep smiling beautiful! :-D

Hi Fitzy, I have a couple of pairs of those eyebrows also! I got mine through headcovers.com You're right they look really natural! The only couple of things that bother me about them is that in photos you can see a flash/glare on them under the hair (I was taking specific shots of them on). Not so noticeable if you're taking reg. pics. The only other thing I am tussling with is, keeping any powders ( I usually dust my face with translucent powder after all my makeup is on.) of them. If you get to close to the brows you'll notice that the powder will gather near the edges and be visible, also after removing the eyebrows, cleaning any powder and adhesive off them is a little tricky. How do you keep yours clean and fresh looking? What product do you use to remove the glue? Uh oh! I just notice I only have 3 of 4 brows left......I wonder where the other one got too???? Must have grown legs LOL :-D
  • Liesl

Wow you're stunning! I'm getting a suction wig made at the moment by Freedom wigs and it's so exciting to see how gorgeous yours looks. I can't wait! My name is Liesl. I'm from Wollongong, Aus. I'm 21 in September and that's when my wig is expected to be ready!
  • Anna

Hi Anna, I'm Anna also!! I'm from Blenheim originally but been in the UK for the last 7 1/2 years. Alopecia has graced me with it's presence again, been away from NZ for so long but heard about you when I was home in February and in the midst of losing my hair again. Coming back to NZ for good In November, my mum found out where you get your wigs from and I have an appointment with Deanna in Auckland the day after I land....can't bloody wait! So, so excited!! Big thanks for all your work in raising awareness aorund alopecia in NZ, long over due xx
  • Liesl

oh cool the princess charlotte foundation sounds great and the dinners...I'm in for sure! Yeah i was just on the phone with martine today actually. She is lovely. I've had alopecia for three years now. I was in the Army and then got discharged for bad feet. It was quite a shock coz that's what i wanted to do and trained for a long time to do it and then all of a sudden my hair started falling out. It grew back but never a full head of hair and it just kept falling out again and again. So I bit the bullet and got in contact with martine. I met her three years ago but i was still a little nervous about the whole having to keep my head shaved back then. Now i'm over my hair and just get cranky with it haha. I would throw some whopper trantrums. My boyfriend is used to it. He is very supportive. When is the next charity dinner?
  • Liesl

Oh my god! Mick Fanning!! That's so awesome. My boyfriend, Clint, is gonna flip out! Mick is his idol. Now he is gonna want alopecia just to get close to mick. lol! My boy is ex pro surfer but never met mick.
  • Anna

I love it, have had a good few years here and have done unexpectedly well in my career which is probably why I've been here so long....but looking forward to coming home now and REALLY looking forward to meeting Deanna, have spoken on the phone to her and she has also spoken to my mum which was nice for her as well, you know how mums worry :-) .First severe bout with alopecia was when I was 13, this one started a couple of years ago but picked up the pace around xmas
  • kim trivett

Hi, I love your pictures they are so beautiful.
  • Liesl

Haha that's hilarious about the guys. Oh wow that's really cool TV presenter. What's your degree? I'm studying Pathology at the moment. Vampire taking blood and all that jazz. I'd love to go to Auckland, it looks so pretty. Me and my man are in the process of moving further south coast from Wollongong for his work. It's a little stressful at the moment but he's happy anywhere where there is surf. What does your man do? Do you know when the next PCAF dinner is?
  • Liesl

Oh ok it must be fun. My sister's are in that kind of industry. One does web design and cateloge design for Mossimo and my other sister is in the process of filming a kids show in Melbourne. Wow that's really awesome bout Murray. And for being so young. Good on him! I will do that and sign up at pcaf, thanks.
  • Salmezan

Hi Anna, thanks for adding me. Love your pictures!
  • Liesl

Hellooo! Just checked out showroom22. Very neat. I really should have done some sorta study towards the fashion industry like my sisters after school but i was too much of a rat bag and just wanted out of school lol. I'm a little bit wired at the moment. I've had too many coffees waiting for a new (in between stage) wig to arrive in the post lol. When are you coming back to Australia? We'll have to catch up for a beer sometime.
  • Liesl

Oh ok. The hair expo was on in syd just this weekend gone. Kicking myself i didn't go! Found out yesterday :-(. Um my wig is ash two tone blonde, 16inch, with a bit of a wave. It's cute! Cross fingers it looks ok though. Bit of a stab in the dark ordering it off the net but i thought what the hell, it's very good quality and expensive enough hah! Nothing is like the freedom wigs tho. Clint and i have come up with a compromise...he gets a new surf board for every freedom wig i get lol. cheeky. Yeah it would be great to meet in person. Def give me a yell when you're here and we'll do some drinky poos hehe.
  • Salmezan

Thanks! showed my bestfriend your pics and he said you're really pretty :)
  • Liesl

In my little side picture there was my first wig. It wasn't the best as you can see. Copped a lot of crap with it but my hair used to be that colour. That's my friend Paula on the left. I've still got it and thinking of selling it to one of my sister's drag queen friends. Haha she used to run a pub in Melbourne that had drag nights every thursday. Not long after that photo was taken i battled with a bit of depression about it all. It's really interesting to find out who your real friends are and who are just not worth it. I lost girl and guy friends and started to blame myself but I figured, no, i was never dependent on anyone, people were actually embarressed to be seen with me with no hair. I was never invited out to parties anymore. It took about two years to finally get my confidence back and find the right circle of friends. Yep, i'll post a pic of my new wig asap!
  • Liesl

FINALLY my wig arrived today! I was waiting for two days by the letter box in my dressing gown hehe. It's better than i thought. I'm happy with it for now. I'll try post a pic by this arvo. I've got to wait to use clint's phone coz my phone kicked the bucket and i can't find the camera! Argh. Did you get the state of origin over there last night? I turned it off once the score was 30-nil, Queenslands way. So annoyed. Stupid queenslanders lol. It becomes a dirty war over here i tell you lol. I can't stop playing with my hair! I feel so girly again. It's so lovely to have met you. Chatting has been great! Hope you're having a wonderful day! xx
  • Christel Hertz

    Hi Anna,

My daughter Jennifer is 8 and wants to be a model, so I was very excited to show her your photo's. Now she can have a role model who is just like her. It is good to see that you are bringing awareness for Alopecia. Thank you.
  • Liesl

I can't believe you....going for queensland? Anna you are supposed to be my friend! lol. Yeah the all blacks...kinda feel sorry for them hehe. Still don't have a picture of my head yet. Try and get it on here by tomorrow. Speaking of heads and tomorrow, reminds me, Martine is coming to visit. Should be good fun trying all her wigs on again. Although, i look a little scary with the brown hair coz i'm so fair. Morticia Adams hah! You going out and about this weekend? Any plans? xx
  • claire

Hi there Anna, I was so happy to see your profile on here. My daughter Nicole was eight when she developed Alopecia she is now 11. We live in New Zealand and saw a few months ago the piece they showed on tv where you talked about your alopecia.
We were so happy to see someone out there getting Alopecia awareness out. I am so happy that our lovely daughter has such wonderful role models like yourself. She is a really confident young lady who hasn't let her AA stop her from doing anything she wants too, and it is awesome for me as a parent to know that she can look at other young adults who are out there making the most of life with AA....... So thankyou so much for sharing your AA with the world and keep up the good work.

    Luv Sharon
  • Liesl

Hellooo!! so sorry I haven't been in contact. Been a busy bee with me course and I've FINISHED! Now a qualified Pathology collector! 93%. I'm happy! How have you been? Martine's visit cool. She's great. I've got an interview next week for pathology job so bit nervous. And i'm in the middle of sending out invitations for my 21st which is August 23rd. You're welcome to come but i'm sorry i'm still jobless at the moment so i can't afford to fly you and muz out haha. And when i get a job, i think a years wages will be going to clint, mum and dad for forking out for me. Haha you know what it's like being a needy student. So what's new? I've bought a new wig since i last spoke to you coz the one i got about a month ago hurt my head and i've got yucky sores above my ears. Clint says they look like barcodes lol idiot. This one is real hair and a bit strawberry blonde. I've got some photos from my course that i'll put on here. Never been a red head it's pretty cool.

im reading that you have a freedom wig aswell, and i was just wondering what shampoo and if you use any products on it? does yours still feel very well suctioned... myn seems to have lost it, but im not sure how that has happened?! also, around the edges of the hair is it a darker line, or is it the same shade as the scalp? do you get what i mean?! its almost as if they have maybe accidently left the marker pen on it?! sorry, lots of questions there!! soph xx

  • Lacey

    Heey lovely,
awee thank you. Yeah its been really hard. I just felt really odd and out of place always looking for other people on the street with alopecia . But since i joined this site it has become a lot easier.
I now see that life can go on even with out hair. Right now i only have 3 spots but i am always really scared of losing more hair.
When did you start losing your hair?
Hope to hear from you soon

Hi Anna, I saw your you tube vid, it was so insipiring!
I read your story on the Princess Charlotte foundation and i was so moved.
I loved all the wigs you showed us in your vid, they're freedom wigs right? I didn't know freedom also made wigs that you can swim, sleep in, etc. I saw a photo of u on th beach with it on, does it stay on normally and stuff?
And by the way, do u know the name of the singer who wrote a song about alopecia who was in that same vid? I'd love to get hold of the lyrics.

Well, nice to meet you, I hope u don't find my questions daunting.
    Take care
