About Me:: Hey my name is myranda and i am 17yrs old i have been dealing with hairloss for about 5yr.i love to ride forweelers and play sports im really active i love softball i play for my highschool the only bad thing is when i wore slip on wigs it would come off but its good now It has been awful but one thing that i can say that has come out of this is that it has made me the grow up and mature about 10x faster than what i should have but that doesnt hurt anyone it makes you so much stronger. my parents and my family have been there for me and i think them for that. i am 19 yrs old and you would expect for me to have a million friends and its not because i choose for it to be that way its because kids are MEAN i have got jumped by grls at school just so they could show ppl what i look like with no wig they talk about me like im a celeb. and im not lieing ppl who i dont even no know my name i have had an awful time in highschool but you no what i let it get to me and it didnt help me any so now i just brush it off like there dirt HERE IS THE MOST AMAZING SHOW EVER IT REALLY CHANGED MY LIFE

Hi I am Abbys mom ,Tammy I just wanted to thank you all for all of your comments!Abby first found out about she had alopecia 3 years ago. .This whole thing has been devastating for her .For the first time in my life I can't make my little girl feel better I don't know how to fix this.Abby is a very shy and quite little girl until you get to know her,she is very with drawn from everything that involves doing things with other people unless i am close .Abby is so sad and feels like she is ugly no matter how many times you tell her she is not.I want to tell you a little about her so maybe you will know her a little better.Abby collects stuffed animals ,she likes to color,read, and swimming.Abby loves horses,dogs ,and cats,she has a dog named Rascal ,but we call him buba.Abby lives with her father ,me , two sisters and brother,she is the youngest.Abby is a very loving and beautiful little girl,she loves babies,and wants to be a doctor or nurse that helps little kids when she gets older.Thanks again for your support!!If you have any ideas on how to help her please let me know.I think this web site will be great for all of us.

We just talked to Debbie Fuller and Abby has to shave her hold head .One min she wants to and then the next she cries,she keeps wondering if all her hair is going to fall out or stay the way it is .My biggest concern right now is getting her to talk about it with other people and i guess some how accept it.Should i tell her close friends or should i not ?should i make her go back to school or not?I dont want her to hide but i dont want her to feel embarrased ,or alone either.I tried to do tough love but i cant stand to here her cry it breaks my heart .She counts on me for everything and i refuse to let her down.she asked me to shave my head if she goes thru with shaving hers i told her i would if it made her feel better because it is only hair its not who i am.So as far as a wig i dont know yet.

HI, Its Abbys mom Thanks for the offer I don't think she would do this right at this moment ,she just found out that her aunts and grandparents have know all a long and she is a little upset with me right now.I thought it would be a relief for her to know at least other family members know but I guess I was wrong. I hope I can help Abby as great as your mom has helped you . Iam so sorry all those things happened to you at school.Abby has had bad experiences at school also .Thanks again for all your support Tammy

Hi Myranda, I am sorry you had such a bad experience with your peers because you have Alopeica. My 6 yr old daughter has AA, but is showing signs of regrowth with treatment. She has had no hair, lashes or brows since Dec and wears a wig. We don't advertise her AA among classmates or people that are not our close friends and family. Although, I think she has told kids at school, but no parent has stopped to ask me. I like to keep my business private and don't feel I need to advertise my daughters medical history.

Sam is outgoing and socially active and does not let having no hair stop her. I was reading a post on someones wall you wrote about the hair club. I was wondering how you like their wigs. Sam is getting her first one in two weeks. Do you love them? How long have you been wearing them? Cindy

Hey what's this show about? Because my girlfriend just watched on a show called "Shear Genius" and they had an episode where they made wigs for women that had alopecia. My gf said it was a heart filled tear-jerker.

You sound like an awesome strong willed young woman. I would like your opinion on hair club for kids. I have a 10 1/2 year old son who has alopecia totalis for the past 2 years. He is completely bald. He has black hair that is slightly coarse, but straight. He is bi-racial. He wavers between wearing a hat and wanting to get a hair piece. He wears a hat to school. He pulls it down to his eyes and you can barely see them. He has a wig, but won't wear it. He is worried about others pulling it off. I am not sure what to do. The hat is becoming an issue since he pulls it down so far. I don't want it to become his security blanket and with him covering his face a huge portion . Any suggestions?
