I'm in my late-50's & have had AA since 18 months of age; universalis for 30 years. Although I've had AA since a baby, I didn't know I could lose all my hair until it happened within 30 days! Over the years I've tried all types of treatment, lotions & potions, medications etc. - it didn't grow back. I have worn every type of wig made & have been happiest with the Freedom Hair wig from New Zealand.
My eldest sister was just diagnosed w/AA & my niece has androgenetic hair loss. That hair loss gene just won't leave my family alone!
I live in the San Francisco area now (orignally from Pittsburgh, PA) & continue a close relationship with NAAF - they were there for me 28 yrs. ago!
I've learned to accept AA for what it is - a disease over which I have no control - and am happy to help others learn that there is life with AA.
Hi Rose, How come your name sounds so familiar to me? I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us. Cheryl, co-founder
Hi Rose,
You have such beautiful red hair! I love that color. I've had universalis about the same length of time that you have. Just wanted to say hello and see how you are doing.

Thank you for speaking with me today! I am excited to learn more abou the vacuum wigs and order one and to get to meet you in person when you are down this way! I'm in the process of trying to figure out how I financially can order one before the end of May. I'll keep you posted =) Thanks again. I'm finally excited again about hair...it's been a long time.
It was so fun to finally meet you this past weekend. I am so excited for my system to come in...I have a count down calendar going. Thanks again for all your help and support.
Hi Aimee,
I usually need an eyebrow touch-up within 2 yrs. I've had tattooed brows for over 25 yrs & really love them. Most cosmeticians will offer a second appt. to do any tweaking. When they begin to fade, I use a cheap Maybelline brow pencil (keep it sharp) to make 'hair-like' strokes. Then I add a sealer to keep penciled brows for the day. Good luck w/the new brows. I like how I have a 'frame' to my face in the AM.
