About Me:: My name is Alex and I'm 27 years old. I just moved to Jacksonville, FL after spending the last 9 years in the Tampa/Orlando area. I just started my 4th year as a teacher and am teaching middle school reading this year. I attended the University of Central Florida and was a sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma. I love my friends, family and sisters. I have had Alopecia since I was 12 years old and have experienced every stage of hair loss as well as regrowth. All my pictures are of me with wigs on, as I never leave the house without them. I do have some regrowth on the back of my head, one eyebrow, and a few eyelashes on one eye. So we'll see what happens.

Hi again. I just got a new wig online. It's a cheapy....I just wanted to see the style on me....but I wound up actually LOVING it!!! I was totally surprised. Apparently Revlon has a line of wigs called Simply Beautiful that are made especially for women with medical hair loss. The inside of the wig is EXACTLY the same as my very expensive, human hair wig. It's the lace type with the monofilament part. Anyway, including tax and shipping, it only cost me $126!!!!!!! Like I said, it's gorgeous and comfortable. I know it's synthetic and wont' last as long, but I swear it's just as nice as my real one and at that price -- hell, I can buy a new one every couple of months!!!! You should check out the line...even if only to wear to the beach or something. Mine is called "Revlon Encounter." Take care!!

I have had this wonderful condition since I was 19 years old..well meaning the total hair loss at that age.
I used to sit on my hair!

Hi alexandra, is your wig a custom one from iwig? Did you order it online or go to their NY store?
What is the cap construction? And what special parts/tops did your request? I have been on the website and it mentions french top and open front lace.
What were the specs for your wig?

Alexandra, I am a former teacher and now a staffing specialist. hope you find a job soon! most of my faculty knew i had AA and wore a hair system but usually they forgot. there is a book called 'for love of anya' about a middleschool girl with AA. you should find it! it is a good book.

Thanks for the info, wow 4 years is a long time for a wig to last...thats good news. I read a post from someone on here that after they washed their IWIG it changed in texture & never was the same again. Not sure what type of hair they had in their wig but have you noticed this happening ever?

Hey Alexandra .. your wigs look great! I love the long one that you have in your pics. Where do you get them? I'm supposed to be getting a long one in at the end of the month ... I have a monofilament top one now but this one I ordered is handmade without that type of top. Do you where this kind of wig? I'd love to hear your advice about this stuff. Talk to you soon

Your wig looks so natural and undetectable.I am loving your pics.I have AA for 4 years now,but have'nt had the need to wear a wig before this.Since I am new to this,could you please advise me a little on the best vendor to buy a full lace wig from.However I am a student so cannot spend more than 500$ on one.

Hi Alexandra! I heard that you too have an IWIG? I bought one recently but had to have some changes done to it so i haven't really worn it yet. How long have have you had one? Do you like yours? Mine was a little to puffy on the top and didn't lay flat on my head. Maybe I'm just not used to wearing it yet. I hope it looks as good as yours after they work on it. Thanks Alexandra! I think these are the best by far too from what I have researched besides the Freedom Wigs, which are different. I had a question for you, how do you attach the IWIGS to your scalp and make them comfortable? I have clips in mine for now, but you never know when I might need to use some other way to attach it!
