I tried everything...nothing is working...so I gave up and I'm doing things that make me happy ; ) I love talking to people about this because it makes me feel like I'm not alone. Update...moved to Arlingon, VA...not in a band anymore ; ( and I have asthma now...so, trying to deal with that the best I can. Would take alopecia over asthma ANY DAY!

oh Lee...just talking to Jackie on your page....so you down with all the fun..of going without the wig..if not for a day on bald out day!yey!I have tried it all every rememdy you can come up with..forget it..it doesn't change a thing.
Just love yourself and the rest will find a way.
I wore a bandana to bed for 6 years, when I got married many many years ago....and it was no fun.

I know this alopcia thing can be tough but together we can make it a whole lot better.
My Partner Leo is also a musician. More of a recording artist but is in 3 bands too. The last songs are on my page are Leo's. Check it out.

Hi Lee, Please don't give up, I understand the fight though.
With Medicare appeals you can have an attorney but I am doing this on my own. I was a paralegal for County of Riverside, my expertise are criminal law. But I am giving it a huge go & presenting on my own doing lots of homework. Hang in there. There is a wig place here in southern ca, World of Wigs in Tustin, they make wigs there & they have a program where you can sign up & people can donate to your wig, its really cool.
I will let you know what happens.

Lee, you are between & rock & hard spot. Your problem is this, yes you have insurance, they cover only $500.00 of your wig/cranial prosthesis. It is at this point all insurance companies will come back with the standard reply, it is your responsibility to know what is covered & is not. They can be really cold about it to. I have found out the hard way the importance of doing your home work.
Your lucky at least your insurance covers wigs. Sadly systems out there are really expensive. The ones I have looked into, my husband & I can't afford at this time.
We have started saving & I'm hoping within a year or so I can look into a really good system.
You hang in there, check to see if there are programs you qualify for, something that might pick up the balance after insurance pays .

Hi Lee,
I like Crystal City. Lots of great restaurants and shopping. It's convenient to the Metro so you can get anywhere from there. It's clean and safe and has lots of park like settings and jogging paths to enjoy. It's also convenient to places like Pentagon City and Roslyn which also are also full of shops and restaurants. Definitely worth checking out!

hi i liked your pics and profile you are such a pretty girl. i am really struggling i am not bald and some say i'm crazy.. but i have female pattern or so dr says and you would think i was bald.. i cant help but be upset about it.. i just feel i look so bad and it just lays wierd.. and i cant do anything about it.. it scares me so.. i wish i could be as strong as some of you on here.... i just dont know what to do.....do you know anything about FPB its going on 5 yrs, if it were going to get worse i guess it would have already... it just terrifies me... what did you do to get over it.

i have seen a therapist all last year and lost my job, no insurance so i had to stop.. anyway i felt we talked about the same things and at some point you have to take what they say and do it. i'm not at the point where i need anything it just lays so wierd, hard to explain. my girls are giving me a hard time now about wanting things i cant afford with only a parttime job.. and thats adding to my stress level. i just feel at times i am nothing... only a resource for money for my children that i dont have and they dont understand.. and ugly to boot too....

I know I looooove my Freedom wig!! I got mine in mid-October. I think the next one I get will be blonde!! I love that us alopecians can change our hair color on a whim like that ;) I wish they made them longer, too. My natural hair was always really long and curly; although I don't miss the curls, I definitely miss the length. Hope you have a happy holiday season!

Haha I agree! I don't mind the snow, but nothing is getting plowed or shoveled! And the Metro is pretty much useless at this point :( I had a snow day yesterday, and it looks like I'm going to get another one tomorrow! Woohoo!!

Hey girl! It's sooo nice to hear from you again! It has been a while. I'm doing good. Tomorrow's my 33rd B-day. Woohoo! I'm in school now--for nursing. I love it. It keeps me so busy though. I just started back at WW again too. I haven't been for a year.(shame on me!) It's so hard getting back into it. I haven't been doing as well as I did the first time I joined. I need to just do it! I like your new pics! Did you get a new Freedom? It looks longer. Or is it the angle of the pic? Anyways, your hair looks soooo nice!!!!And VERY natural too!

I've been wearing my vacuum wig for a little over a year now. I love it! I ordered a second one recently, but had to send it back because of a couple of defects. From what I was told, they're easy fixes. I can't wait till it comes back! It's so beautiful, and LONGER than my original one.

Yea, I have been doing TERRIBLE at WW so far. I go on Fri.'s. Last time I ended up losing 40lbs, then I gained about half back. I have yet to lose a pound since I started a month ago. Why is it so hard to get back in??!! I did so well last time!

Thanks Lee! I had hidden spots when I was 12 that all grew in by 16 with shots. Then almost 10 years later I am dealing with my second round since having full thick hair and this time it was more aggressive and led to wearing a wig.

Hey Lee! I'm going to be moving to DC approx. end of aug or early sept. Have been looking at apartments in Arlington, cant believe the price of rent. I was hoping we could get together while i'm there. We can look for new hair!!! My brother and i are heavy in the music scene and we want to hit as many shows as we can...hear dc gets great performers! My brother is a drummer and would like to make contacts, he hopes to get involved in a band as well. I hope ur doin ok with ur new diagnoses of asthma. I pray it doesn't keep u from singing.
