Recently moved to Washington DC! For those who know me on the site: I finally made it! Have angrogenic alopecia. I was curious if anyone lives in the DC area, or close by. Would love to meet some people face to face!
HI Kryssie, I wanted to welcome you to Alopecia World. I can honestly say that we are a great community here and I hope you enjoy the time you spend with us.
Hi Krissie! Thanks for the friend add :) I see that you are moving to DC this summer - that is where I live! What is bringing you there? I moved here because I love the energy of this city! Take care - Natalie
Hi Krissie! That is so exciting that you will be in DC! It is such a great city! There is a lot to see and do here - I love it. I don't know any wig dealers in this area; I got my Freedom wig from Karen Peterik in Chicago (www.newlifehair.com). And my boyfriend and I met while I was rapidly losing my hair. I told him right away and it has never been a big deal to him - he is so great. Now that I'm bald, he calls me his "little baldie" hehe. Feel free to ask me any other questions about DC or wigs, etc. :)
Hey, Special K! Thanks for the add!
Maybe we ARE alike... in which case, how's the goatee coming along?? (if it's the other way round, p'raps it's time to start measuring up for, er, "certain items" of clothing not usually worn by guys...) ;)
Later!

He's not on this site but he's extremely supportive of me :) It doesn't bother him that I have alopecia and it definitely doesn't stop our attraction for each other. MMM I think we don't travel enough! But I guess we do try to travel, even for a weekend somewhere, every 1-2 months. Do you like travelling?
Hey I'm pretty good. School is going in good. In my pics I had extensions and the curly one was a wig but right now i don't put anything in my hair. My hair is pretty thin, but I don't have any bald spots, so I just wear it in a small ponytail. I know it doesn't really look good, but I don't want to get extensions anymore cause they damage my hair and make me lose more and I'm afraid to wear a wig because live in the dorms so it would be pretty hard to hide that. So what are you doing with your hair? I read you were getting extensions, do you know a kind that doesn't damage or pull out hair?
Oh that's cool. I used to wear clip in extensions too, but I stopped because I need to straighten my hair everyday to get it to match the extensions and my hair was getting really fried and damaged. And the curly wig that is totally a joke I bought it at claires for $5 it's called 'miley cyrus wig' and it looks at lot faker in real life than it does in the picture lol. I agree I wish there were more natural looking optons and less expensive ones too!
hey krissie.
dont stress about it. those who truly matter can accept you. its not you with the issue, its the other way around.
who needs those jerks in their life, ya kno?
take care, sweets.
not a problem. i related so much to your own story! everything this way is alright, went and bought me a new wig today. its pretty awesome, im going to post pictures. how about you?
Hey Krissie! I saw your "What do men think" post (i'm not a part of the group so I couldnt comment) and I just wanted to encourage you. I Found out I had AA a few months before I met my boyfriend. I kept it from him for a while, but then decided to be honest with him and he supported me entirely. He watched my hair fall out, and watched me transition to a wig and was fine with it. He said it did take a little bit of adjusting to, not because of the texture or the fact that it was a wig.. just because it looked different. Hanging out with his friends, they have no idea. Guys are clueless until they are filled in. So just be honest when YOU are ready. Don't be ashamed of hair pieces. Have confidence that there are guys out there that won't mind and will support you! If they don't stick around, you can do so much better!
Hiya, Just You! Glad you could drop by.... fancy a coffee? I've just put the kettle on ;)
Sooo.... what's new.... um, I believe there've been some advances in genetics? Oh, hang on, you mean with ME! Well, was off work last week, which was ace - got about in the car with the roof down, felt the wind in my hair. (OK, so I've got a good imagination!!)
But hey, there's a positive thing about having a bald head - it's aerodynamic, so must be worth at least another 5 m.p.h. on the top speed, as well as being environmentally friendly, yeah? ;)
Hope you're OK.... love the Big Eye pic.... :)
Hi Krissie, I bought this thorugh newlife hair Karen Peterik in Chicago, Il. She is great. It is called a freedom vacum wig. It is made just for you and is made of virgin european hair. You have to be completely bald to wear them or you have to shave your head. I love it and so do all my friends and family!! The website is newlifehair.com

Don't feel bad about wanting to wear a wig. I like the way I look with hair better, too!
How are you today?
