- I have been living with alopecia since 1991. Throughout the years, I have had alopecia areata and alopecia totalis. My life is not over, so there is still time for alopecia universalis. ;-) I have had many ups and down and find that I always come out on the other side standing tall.
It has always been a given for me to reach out to others with alopecia. I just did it naturally. I became involved in our local support group in Montreal, participated in the annual conferences of the National Alopecia Areata Foundation (NAAF), and also served as president of the Quebec Alopecia Areata Foundation (QAAF).
Someone once asked me what I planned to do after I moved to the USA. My initial thought was to attend or start a support group in Michigan, but I eventually settled on the wonderful idea of creating Alopecia World with my husband, rj jones, who was my fiancé at the time (2008).
On a personal note, I like to blend femininity and strength. A woman can be strong and physically capable as well as soft and feminine. For a long time, I thought I "had" to be one or the other, and I had a hard time finding my place. Blending both is very gratifying, indeed.
I also like to keep active. It does not have to be extreme. It can be a bike ride, walking, painting a room in the house, or cleaning the garage.
In April 2008, I married rj, a very special man that supports me in my alopecia and is the catalyst and the great mind behind the research and design of this site.

I am doing fine... AA became AT and turns out to go AU... wow do I miss my other eyelashes wind blowing in my face makes teardrops a sound from the past ...it is a waterfall ;-))) anyhow... Try to make everyday a great and sometimes it is TV day and I take a rest from the AU not to long .... 'cause many things to do.
Question:
With your (our) Alopecea World website did you achieve your biggest dream? and if not. What is/are your dream(s) to achieve to make a difference for you and mankind? Why I ask this question is because I am busy creating awareness about a lot of things that are playing in this world.

This is a thank you note to you and your husband for Alopecia world.It changed my world.I was always very conscious about my hair,but after reading a lot of similar stories here , I finally found the courage to accept my situation.I love blogging here and reading about other peoples experiences.There are a lot of friends here with home I can discuss various issues and also relate to.It made a huge difference in my life and I just wanted to let you know that what you are doing here is just amazing.

i also started something like you guys do but in Russia, it is our new small world which is developing now and we plan to create smth of a kind as this community (just do not have money for it yet, that is why it is in LiveJournal now).

On a sad note- as I have shared with a few friends here on AW I lost my sweet Bentley ( my dog) earlier this month. Had him for 15 years- so it's been unbearably tough for me...... BUT happy you thought he was a cutie! I of course do too.. but being his doggie mom perhaps I'm a bit biased! :)

Thanks for the warm welcome. The site is great, I can't believe I didn't find it sooner. It really makes me feel like I'm not the only one. I recently moved to Italy from the US and wish their was a support group here near me. I have no idea where I can buy a wig here yet or anything and will post something soon to see if anyone on the site knows.
