About Me:: I've been bald since I was in elementary school and I am soon to be 35. None of the treatments have worked but I have grown to love my "baldness". I'm just looking to connect with other people living with this condition and maybe be some help to people who aren't coping that well with it.

I'm pretty much a newbie too. I belong to the NYC group on this site. Tried meeting up with a support group, but the meeting was canceled.

Sorry I'm not very consistent with replies, I'm doing this from work. I think that would be great if there was a support group for kids. As for the support group in NYC, I'm getting the impression that it doesn't meet in the fall and winter, but I don't know. As for myself,
I've been married two years, but no children yet. Congratulations on yours!

How the hell did I wind up here? LOL. Well, I did live in Manhattan. He lived in Astoria.
He had the bigger apartment. He won. I don't love it though, and I want to move some day. The grocery stores suck. Anyway, how about you? Looking at your pictures, you seem like some kind of "official" sort of guy.

LOL. You're funny. Yes, a lot of feta cheese etc. around here. Wow, a US marshall, that must be really interesting and exciting. I'm a graphic designer for women's sleepwear, ho hum. I also work in the city.

Hello Eric!

Thank you for the friend invite! Looking forward to it!! :) Hey I see you aren't so far away- so is it safe to assume you are watching the world series and rooting for the Yankees!? So what is Oceanside close too? I'm not familiar with it... I do have a relative in Queens. And used to have some on Long Island -but that's been awhile.

Wow- hairloss sense Elementary school. I'm sorry - middle and high school is tough enough with having to worry with AA! You sound so well adjusted now... wish it was contagious! It's a big emotional struggle for me. Good ole' spot roll call each night gets old!! :)! I do however feel very fortunate that (knock on wood) I am still able to hide my spots with my hair.

Hi Eric,

It is so nice to finally know that I am not alone. I wish I had this site years ago. I think I have come along further in the last couple weeks of being on this site than I have in the last 30 years of having alopecia.

Yes I agree, I think kids thought I had cancer. Not sure. It didn't stop them from being mean at times though. I like to think or hope it is alot easier for kids with alopecia these days. Wigs are alot nicer and it is a little more known about. It is a long path to recovery for me(accepting and being ok with it) but at least I have started the journey. I had found other addicitions to numb the pain like food and alcohol, but slowly I am learning to heal in other ways.

The Raven game was awful!!!! Didn't look like the same team from last week! Lost a bet too! depressing- maybe a bottle vodka and straw will help? haha!

Since you just had injections- are you still using the cream?? Did the doc give you any idea of when you could expect to see some new growth?

Hi no, I have not found a support group and I am drowning. My husband is so awesome. But, I'm tired of crying to him. I lost mine when I was 38. I am now 41. I want my hair back :)

Hey Eric

Sorry it took so long to write you back. I liked the group, you get the support, the opportunity to vent, the opportunity to inspire, and gather information. They have a resident dermatologist attend who happens to have alopecia as well. Did you lose all your hair before your eyebrows began thinning?

I'm a bit concerned about the steps that this process can take. I think my biggest problem with this condition is not the hair loss but the lack of knowing what will happen.

It's helping me cope with my recent diagnosis, and see what may be ahead. It's great to see so many others and how they deal with it, and helps me learn new ways to do the same!

OMG-- wow it has been awhile!! Fill me in- how is everything in your world? How is the little Bambino?

All is well here. ... same ole. Working and trying to stay out of trouble. My AA is about the same... spots spots spots... some with spouts of hair growing back others just forming. I had a good summer but am excited for Fall.. my favorite time of year! I did have a bit of a heart break today.... Poor Ravens ( I am a little hoarse from the last 5 minutes!) ! so its that time of year again too!

Eric - thank you for the sweet note...it's amazingly helpful, this website and how wonderful meeting others in similar situations who are animal lovers and rescuers as well! I don't know where I'd be without my husband, friends and my pets. They just give you a reason to laugh when you wake up. I mean, seriously, we have no hair .. it's not the end of our world. My dogs would give me theirs if they could :) Hope you are happy and well and it appears that it's your big birthday - happy day to you!
