Hello Alyce: Thanks for the friends request and it is nice to meet you. I am very blessed to have two beautiful real hair wigs that look very natural and no one ever guesses. They were quite expensive and my parents bought them for me. I am currently getting regrowth and have recently been diagnosed with Celiac disease. Since going completely glutten free I am getting regrowth of hair all over my body. I have found other people who have commented on this and when they went glutten free regrew all their hair as well. It is interesting and what I have found out is the glutten allergy destroys the Villi in the small intestines which does not allow the body to absorb nutrients. The body therefore in response to malnutrition lets go of trying to sustain the hair in an attempt to keep major organs feed. Since being glutten free the Villi starts to heal back and hair regrowth is starting. I think there are many different causes for Alopecia, but for me this seems to be the problem. Alopecia is an autoimmune problem and when you have one I am finding it not unusual to have others. Celiac is also an autoimmune problem as well. I'm learning tons and a lot of this has to do with the gene pool as well. So far so good for me, we'll see how it continues to pan out. Have a great day!

Hi Alyce, Thank you for the friend request. I am new to this site and to Alopecia which I have had about two years now. My hair comes and goes but has been mostly gone for the last year. It's nice to hear everyones experiences and support.

Thanks Alyce for responding and adding me as a friend. I was diagnosed with discoid skin lupus in 2002. Apparently, most of my attacks happens on my scalp, causing me quite a bit of hair loss. I used to get 12 steroid shots in my scalp until I couldn't take it anymore. I'm so paranoid that it's too close to my brain and I stopped the shots, it did control the outbreaks for a while, however I may try a topical steroid, which I was told you must keep using it constantly. If you have any suggestions on how to prevent the hair loss, I would love to hear them. Again, Thank You for your support.

Kim actually lost hers at age 5, most of the time she does o.k. but she has bad days like everyone else. Right now the problem is that her LOL wig is worn out, and the new one is ordered but it takes time.( I think we have about 10 weeks to wait) and she's doing a comb over with lots of hairspray to cover up the holes. So that gets really frustrating. I keep trying to get her to come on here for moral support but she's not interested.
