About Me:
I have been suffering from hair loss for about 18 years. It started with a quarter sized spot at the crown of my head. It would quickly grow back and another one would form just to the other side. It would quickly grow back. It soon started happening more often and at the age of 51, has gotten even worse. I am not totally bald. Most of my healthy hair is around the edges and in the back of my head. However, from just behind my hairline in the front and the full crown of my head, is always bald or broken off when it does grow. I have discovered a product that has been very very helpful to me in regrowing my hair. I couldn't believe how much my hair thickened and grew when I used it. I recently ran out of the product and didn't use it for about a month and all of the new growth broke off and now I am back to square one. I knew there were people with this problem, but it still seemed that I was in it all by myself.
Are you age 18 or older?

Anita,

Although I'm not a doctor it sounds to me as though you are suffering androgenitic alopecia which is essentially male pattern balding. My (adopted) grandmother had this problem and it's slightly different with women where the entire scalp just produces really thin hair. Is this the case with you? Regardless, it is very difficult for some people to adjust but luckily there is so much available cosmetically and with hats and scarves too. I remember a time when I was struggling the most and an alopecian friend would just remind me that I only lost my hair, not my smile. That and remember you are not alone. :D

Hi Anita,

Welcome to alopecia world. I spoke to a woman named Anita who wanted to start a support group in Guelph, Ontario. Would that be you??
