I started losing my hair at the age of 12. Hair loss progressed through high school, and more so while I was pregnant. When I hit menopause at the age of 39 hair loss became very noticeable. My husband, recognizing my pain, suggested that I get a wig even if it cost $1000 or more. "Go do it, you'll feel better!" I took his suggestion and have been wearing wigs for 20 years now. However, I have always been intimidated by not having my original hair. Today's Show (7/27/09) "Bald Girls Go To Lunch" was an inspiration to me. I would love to join this group of women who appear to be very confident with no hair. I not only have alopecia but another disease that has caused hair loss. I can't remember the name. My dermatologist took 2 samples from my scalp to determine this.
