About Me:
I have been ‘bald by choice’ for many years, so long in fact that most people I come across have never seen me with hair – and indeed they never will. Over the years I have observed changing attitudes towards people that are openly bald, but what never ceases to amaze me is just how uptight some people can get over another person’s appearance.
Whilst I do not have alopecia myself I have been through my own life changing experience. I can empathize with anyone that loses something they once had.
Do you have alopecia?
I do not have alopecia
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

Experiments with Makeup

Posted on May 30, 2011 at 3:40pm 0 Comments

I have in the past experimented in a big way with makeup (though unfortunately I can’t do this any longer). It started in the early days of punk / new wave, and mainly for when I went out clubbing. Having said that, for about 3 years I used makeup every day. It was a glamorous period.

Once I’d got the confidence to do so, I graduated from a bit of eyeliner around the eyes to something more extravagant. I was inspired (as indeed were a lot of the punks & latterly goths) by Chinese Opera… Continue

Marlene revisited

There have been a number of blogs / discussions recently regarding various aspects of being openly bald. I thought it would be opportune to re-post a blog I posted on another site a while ago. This provoked a furious reaction from a Marlene Dietrich fan. So please bear in mind that I am a fan of Marlene Dietrich myself, and this is in no way meant to be an insult to her memory. You can find copies of her performing the original version of the song on Youtube, and it is highly… Continue

Hi David, thanks for the friend request. Just got back after a long hiatus.
I haven't any "Hair" issues after 40 years... having arrived at deeper understanding of self.

hi David- no, i am still thinking about that head tattoo. thanks for asking though. i REALLY want to do it. i just don't know what i want for the rest of my life. i have some ideas- but someone told me the other day that tattoos are "cliche" now- because everyone has one. i am trying to think of something else radical i could do...pierce my head? i don't know.

Yes I agree with you David. There is a degree or a line where staring is allowable. I don't have a problem with staring if its done politely and with respect or appreciation. That is the beauty of life....a person's right to be themselves. And yes I agree there needs to be more awareness about alopecia to the general public. I found out recently that there is a support group within my city and never did hear about from the doctors. Also having spoken with the woman in charge, there is over 100 members but less than 20 will ever show up to meeting. Numbers that I just can't allow to continue. How many more like myself didn't even know a group existed.
