Hi, I was thinking of getting a vacuum wig. I heard they fit secure and cannot be pulled off. Well that's what I hear anyway. I work at at special needs school, I work with 7th-8th grade children with severe behavioral problems, some with mental illness as well. My job can get pretty rough and physical and I was trying to find a wig that could not be pulled off or come off during a crisis. They love to go for the hair. Do you think that type of wig would hold up or is there something else out… Continue

Hello Denise,
I am just now getting back to the wonderful messages of thoughts and prayers for my daughter, Kristin. I had the best sleep in 10 days last night because she is home from the hospital. Thank you for thinking of us and your prayers were heard loud and clear. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Love and Hugs,
Dotty

Oh and the new lace hair line is beautiful. It looks just like a real hair line.

I met with my hairpeice maker last night. He has a new material that is a poly nylon blend. It is beautiful and you can pull on the hair and not rip it out of the base. It feels just like human hair. The base is taped or glued to you head which is what I do every day, and I swim and am very active. It will not come off easily. The vacccuumm is a little more secure but hot and sweaty. I found it slipped around on my head, but that was several years ago, maybe they are better now. I have seen comments that do say about the sweating though.

Denise,

Several years ago I had a vaccuum wig, and quite hoenstly I did not like it as much as the type I now have. It was hot to wear, and when my head sweat I was always having to push down to re-seal the vaccuum. The cost of them is very high. It did last me several years longer than the ones I wear now, but like I said I did not feel as comfortable or as secure as I like. I understand they are making them with a new material that is much thinner now though so maybe it is a better product. I wear a piece that I secure with tape and I love it. It has a lace front and a silicone all areound the edges for the tape to be secured. The cap is made from a monfilament that gives me a great part and is very breathable. I am going on thrusday to meet my hair maker to look into a new product made from a new synthetic material like that of cyberhair that is supposed to be really great and easier to maintain than human hair. It is a poly / nylon blend. I am told that you can not even tell it is not human hair and it is amazingly durable.

Denise,
It has only been since I have been with my husband that I hae started to tell my close friends about my alopecia. SOe have been suprised at first, but everyone has been really accepting. My girlfriends think it is cool that I do not have to shave my legs. I have to say that every relationship I have been in, I have eventually told the man that I have alopecia. There is hope for yo finding a great man out there. I have found it was easiest for me to be in the relationship for a while for us to get to know each other, then when I do tell them it is easier to accept. Do you go bald most of the time, or like many of us do you wear a wig to fit in to society? Thanks for the feedback on your tattoo. I nw just need to decide what I want to get and how much of my head i want to be covered.

Nice to meet you! I think it sucks that people don't get that. I know one day I'll be ok but I miss my hair!!! I miss what it feels like when someone brushes or plays with your hair. Thank you for understanding where I'm coming from!

Denise I was wondering how painful it was to get the tattoos on your head in comparison with other areas of your body. DO you have other tattoos? I have always wanted to get my head tattooed. I just do not like the look and shape of my head and would feel more attractive at home.
