- I am 67 and this is my 19th year of dealing with Alopecia Universalis. My thick, ringlet waist length hair fell out in 96 hours May 20-24th 2004 and within 3-5 weeks every hair on my body was gone.
I was tested for all known etiologies and there were no answers after 9 months of poking and prodigy, lab draws & scans. I was "healthy @ 48 years young". "Your hair just fell out due to some sort of unknown chemical/autoimmune problem that if I correct will result in regrowth of my hair because the follicles are healthy and capable.
I started wearing wigs back then because my patient's parents turned on me one evening because they didn't want their premature newborn to catch what I had.
I have never recovered from that statement internally and in 2016 retired from Nursing, but still feel like an ugly duckling that never grew into a swan.
