About Me:
I started out with AA when I was 7 yrs old.. I was always able to hide the spots.. When I turned 30 my AA quickly became AU I was devastated..I had to adjust to wearing wigs and I was very uncomfortable with that.. But then I decided I'd just have fun with it.. Now I have lots of different styles and like to switch them around.. I did start regrowing some hair on my head recently but not enough to go w/o a wig.. And thank God my eyelashes and eyebrows grew back.. That was the hardest part of it.. I was not able to adjust to that..I hated leaving my house..Now I just try to stay as positive as I can about it.. I still have bad days.. But overall I'm much more accepting as I was.. I hope to be able to give support to those that are goin thru this self esteem crushing disease..I'm here to hopefully help the alopecia community and let them know it doesn't have to bring you down.. It can only do that if you let it.. Easier said than done..I know.. God bless you all:)

Thanks for friend request. You have a lot of wigs that look good on you. Was it had to get use to all the hair? It is for me.

Hi Jeanne!

I am 24 and just recently been diagnosed with Alopecia. It started thinning in May. I wasn't alarmed at first but it got to the point where I would have hair tangled into my fingers in the shower, the bathroom floor would be covered in my hair and I would have to sweep. Then one day I dried off my eyebrows after i showered and lost a couple pieces. Same with my eyelashes. They were so long and definitely my favorite part of me. I don't have many left... I can totally see where your coming from about that being the hardest part but I'm so glad you're grew back in. I never knew how important eyelashes were until I started losing them. I find my eyes get so dried out in the wind.

I'm just curious, how long did it take for them to grow back? And when they were coming back in, did they look like peach fuzz at first?!

Hello and welcome, Jeanne!

How are you today? I have AU, too.
