About Me:
I have had alopecia sence I was 4. I had AA as a kid, AT thru my teenage years. Was a research patient with the University of Wisconsin Dermitology Department and was one of the first to recieve quatazone injections as a teenager. That was a HOOT! Got the needle 576 times. By the time I reached 18, much of my hair had returned but no one was quite sure why. I had my toncils yanked at 4 years old because they thought there was a connection between toncils and AA. It was good for some ice cream but that's about all. As a kid, I sat under heat lamps, drank pure gelitan, had my bald spots crayoned brown, scalp massaged, ad nauseum. I did wear a wig in High School (provided by the U of W). I was privilaged to go to a rich boys reform school (Campion Catholic Jesuit, all boys, military, boarding school, yip yip yip yahoo) and it got pretty tough emotionally. But I learned the value of a sence of Humor. I have a thousand stories! I managed to make alopecia an ally. I again lost all my hair at age 45. And I lost it almost overnite. Ten days and it was,and remains history. In six weeks, I lost my beard and my mustach, eyebrows ,eye lashes and nose hair. At age 51 or 52, I had bypass surgerey and lo and behold, my eyebrows, eyelashes and three quarters of my beard and mustach came back to roost.
As with auto-immune system disfunctions, I developed RA but is well controlled. I still ski, race cars, snowmobile, and drive my big old W900 Kenworth coast to coast for a living.
My lovely wife Nancy and I have been married for 29 years and we have six children and 12 grand children (the Dirty Dozen!) And all of our kids and grand kids have rich, full heads of hair!

Are you age 18 or older?
