Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I started losing my hair when I was 34 years old. I am now 41! I have had some growth over the years, but nothing that sticks around for very long. In 2016 I decided to get a full head tattoo and the journey that has taken me on has been a whirlwind to say the least! I have been a subject of some mean memes across the internet. But I have also met and heard from people from all over the world with Alopecia and any other self-identifying changes they have been thru!
Do you have alopecia?
Alopecia areata
Are you age 18 or older?
Yes - I am 18 or older

I remember those days. The staring in the mirror, the desire for denial that this was not really happening to me, waiting to wake up from the visual, image-changing nightmare. It is who we are, you're right. And nearly everyday new people join this site--proof that we certainly are not alone! I'm glad that it gets easier. For me this has come with getting older. I'm starting to give a hoot a lot less what people think and it's giving me confidence to enjoy life again more like I used to. I have friends and I know I'm a good person--a better person because I'm more sensitive to other people's issues. Everyone has something. We have this. Here's to a good tomorrow!

Hi, Jessica

Welcome to Alopecia World. I've had AU for about 20 years now. It took me quite a while longer than you to come to terms with it. Good for you! :)
