Suffered from Alopecia areata for 12 months in 2007, and again three years later in 2010. Both patches were in different places on my head and grew to about 5cm in diameter (A little hard to hide when at the front of my head - but i did ok!) First time tried oral steroids and both times had injections. Also had a small 2cm patch at the start of this year (2011) but it was at the back of my head so I didnt even notice - except for the tingly scalp!! Didnt do anything to treat it, and it started to grow back all on its own withing a few months....it is almost 5cm long now and blends in easily, so I am very happy!! Fingers crossed I dont have anymore for a while.
