- I have had Alopecia Universalis for about 9 years. Before the onset, I didn't have any previous occurrence of the disease. December 2006, my hairdresser found a bald spot on the back of my head. Within a week, hair was raining from my body until there was not one hair left. I became completely hairless within a month. I had some very dark days. Overtime I started rebuilding my life.
I have always been into working out. 4 years ago, I decided to change my body by working out intensely. Since I cant change my AU, competing gives me goals to constantly improve myself.
I am also a licensed esthetician, certified makeup artist, wife and mom.

I continue to watch your beautiful video first time you went into the gym bald. I watch it over and over and whenever I hear the song 'a thousand years' makes me think of you : ) I love it..brings tears to my eyes. My story is somewhat similar and onset of alopecia began at about same age. You are gorgeous and inspirational. I can only hope one day to be as brave as you.
Thanks. I have been a member of the downtown MIlw WI YMCA since 2000. I have been working out with weights, machine, free etc, for about 20 years. Its about the only thing that I do these days that gives me any pleasure. But it helps me burn off some of my stress. Thanks again.
