Developed alopecia universalis 12 months ago, after a year of intense stress. My doctor had prescribed Lexapro for the stress, which I took for a few months before the hair loss began. I also have family history of other autoimmune disorders.

Hi Lisa Im originally from Rockford, IL but no longer live there and i too have alopecia universalis since i was 2 so i know exactly what u are going thru. But it is what it is and i don't let it bother me and live life to the fullest cause you know what? there could be alot worse things that could happen than alopecia. So alopecia aint nothing compared to alot things ive seen and heard about
Hi Lisa, I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to Alopecia World. I have been living with Alopecia Areata since 1991 and know full well the struggle it can be. I look forward to getting to know you. Cheryl, Co-founder
Hi Lisa,
Whether or not your hair has a chance of growing back generally depends on how long you've had universalis. They say that the longer you've had it, the less chance there is because of follicular atrophy. I've had universalis for over 20 years now, so my chances are pretty small...but you know what? Things can happen! But most important for you right now is to be good to yourself and love yourself for who you are at this very moment, with or without hair.
Things will get better, I promise.
I'm so glad you ordered the book! Let me know how you like it, okay?
Hugs!
Welcome Lisa!
You will find this to be a warm and supportive place to be. Good friends (and a good wig, should you decide to go that route) can make all the differnece in coping with our condition.
God bless you,
Sherry Schaefer
