About Me:
My name is Mariah, I have alopecia areata. I completely lost all of my hair when I was four years’ old, head, arms, legs, eyebrows…everything. Gradually I began to grow the hair on my head again, but nothing else grew back. When I was about 12 years old I started losing the hair on my head once again. I had large bald spots all over. I went into a specialist where I was officially told that I have alopecia areata. I received injections on my head, and eyebrows. I now have a full head of hair (for now). I still have no eyebrows, arm hair, leg hair…no hair except for my head. The emotional struggles involved with alopecia have made me a stronger person, and I am gradually becoming more confident with myself and proud of who I am, and what I look like.
