I developed aloepecia areata when I was 10 years old. Since then, I've had 4 episodes of Areata that has always been related to stress. This last episode began 3 years ago when I decided to change jobs and return to graduate school to become a CRNA. This triggered the full blown Alopecia Universalis. I had no idea that I could lose all of my hair. I've done all of the conventional treatments and am now on the waitlist for experimental treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. I am make the best of my situation and trying to stay positive.

Hello My fellow Smooth Friends :)

I enjoy reading all of your post and checking out the great pictures. I thought I would share what happened to me today. I am a full time graduate student studying to become a Nurse Anesthestist. I needed to get an MMR before I could start a new clinical site and the Health Department was just the most convient option (Glad I vote for the levy :). A mother and her daughter (age 5-6) came in an sat next to me. I could tell they were checking me out… Continue

Marianne-
I think it's the G.I. floor...something like that. I'll have to check with her on that again.
We were at the fireworks but didn't get to the festival. It's the first time we've missed it in years...oh, well... next year!

Bless your heart for pursuing this career. I've only been hospitalized once in my life. Luckily it was at Hoag in Newport Beach, CA. The nursing staff was PHENOMENAL. From start to finish. I saw my doc maybe once per day, but the nursing staff was there for me when I was scared to death and pressing that painkiller medicine button. Bwahahahaa. I think I may have worn that thing out. :) I'm thankful every day for nurses and firefighters!!

Marianne,

Sounds like you have an excellent attitude. Congrats on going back to school. It will be worth it.

I have had universalis since age 10. I have worn a vacuum piece for over 20 years and I still love it. I went down a water slide at King's Island a couple of years ago. I made my husband go down first in case my hair fell off when I hit the water. IT DID NOT!!!

I will be in Ohio next month.

Let me know if you need anything.
