Hi, PSPD! I wanted to let you know about an event coming up in San Bernardino next month. Comedienne and alopecia patient Georgia Van Cuylenberg will come to the Feldheym Library downtown on April 17th as part of our Script Frenzy celebration. She will talk about her life as a comedy writer, her transition from standup to screen and documentary writing, and her landmark documentary "Baby Let Your Hair Fall Down", about her battle with alopecia. For more info, call the San Bernardino Public Library at (909) 381-8215.
Don't be too hard on yourself. It's normal to be upset and depressed over your two losses. Your Dad's death most likely triggered the alopecia. Unfortunately, there are no cures for this condition right now, but they are working on it and I expect a treatment that will really work within a few years. Right now there is no treatment that is surefire. The cortisone shots are pretty standard and they will temporarily grow back the hair in spots, but new spots can appear. As far as the Force Life treatment you mention, I wouldn't spend my money on it. As I said, there is no cure right now. The good news is that alopecia is unpredictable and can just go away on its own. Yes, you may grow your hair back and that could be the end of it! Let's hope that will be the case for you.

I'm so sorry about your father. How are you today?
