Hi - We are organising a get together in Auckland on the 4th of October from 1-5pm. If you are interested in attending drop me a line on here and I will get back to you with directions. Will be really nice to get together, meet other alopecians, make new friends and have some fun.
Look forward to hearing from you. Kath
Hi. I live in Auckland and have been AU for 8 years. How are things going. I had never found anyone here in NZ with Alopecia before but have found a few people on this site recently. You are definately not alone, and you may be surprised at some of the world leading technology in NZ for wigs. We also have wig subsidies, so there is quite a lot of help out there. It just takes a while to find it, and if your GP was anything like mine, they new nothing about Alopecia. Drop me a line if you want to chat. Keep smiling
Hey LeslieAnn
I've just found dermmatch, its great although really messy.
I think my hair has frozen with the spots and sheading for now anyway as there is a lot less hair on the pillow case, in the basin or even stuck to the table LOL
Don't feel guilty....consider yourself lucky!! Go online and google a product called Toppik. I used it when I just had spots and it was great! It's sort of like a salt or pepper shaker with colored fibers in it that stick to your existing hairs with static. It comes in all different colors so you can match it to your own hair color. It comes out when you wash it out, but stays in otherwise. I loved it!!! I used to just buy mine online.
Hi you all, thanks for the welcome.
How I'm coping....being in New Zealand I feel a little alone, I discovered a hairdresser who deals in wigs here just yesterday.
Except my problem at this stage it just spots which are just still coverable. No one here deals in toppers and worst of all I almost felt guilty that my problem wasn't worse. LOL The joy of Alopecia huh :)
