- Have had alopecia with on-off symptoms for about 15 years. Lost scalp hair totally twice (and quite a bit of my body hair), wore hair pieces at that time, and twice it regrew back, allowing me to stop wearing hair pieces. I am in a "losing hair" cycle again now, but this time it is much slower. I've lost about 50% of my scalp hair over a 3 year period. It hasn't reversed yet.
