I cured my alopecia areata!

Yup, sure did. Mine is Lupus based, but it still may work for most people. It has to do with the thyroid not processing Biotin and Iodine properly. Had to shave my head for a year, then in a few weeks after taking Biotin and Iodine, it all came back. Kelp is a safer source for Iodine than Potassium Iodide, which you can overdose on if you take too much too long. A few of the expensive mega vitamins in the health food stores also may have enough. You can take a lot of biotin over the normal… Continue

I had my thyroid and antibody testing for lupus when I had my onset of alopecia. Thankfully both were negative. I hope these supplements work for you!

Thanks for the info Rob.
I currently take a multi Vitamin that has 100% of the Iodine but not from kelp. i also take biotin as well like 1000% of daily requirements. I'll look for the kelp iodine.

How much biotin do you take? I also have hyperthyroidism but I'm having a thyroidectomy so I hope it helps my hair.

Rob,

I did click on your face and read more. Very interesting info and I enjoyed reading it. I guess my question or concern would be...is it okay for me to take the iodine if the thyroid is hyper? Guess I am just confused about the whole thing. I should look it up and read more on the iodine. Thanks so much for you help.

Rob,

I was going to try the kelp (already taking Biotin) but my issue is alopecia areata and thyroiditis. Both causing me to lose my hair. At this time, I am having diffused thinning from the thyroid. I went to the health food store and the guy working there said that if I have hyperthyroid (which I had, but was only from the thyroiditis)that I should NOT try the kelp because of the iodine, without speaking to my dr. I guess people with hyperthyroid should not have iodine. Guess if I were hypo, I could try it. I am bummed, really wanted to try that. Going to talk to my dr. though. Thanks for the info!

After a year of research and trying different things that didn't work like rubbing onion juice on my head..all I got was a stinky bald head...lol, I linked the right words together. Since I have Lupus, and it is triggered by ultra violet light from the sun, which I figured was like radiation poisoning, which is known to cause the hair to fall out, I got this article that said that it creates an anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody which inhibits the biotinization and and Iodinization on the thyroglobin of the thyroid. So I got biotin and kelp, which is a great source of iodine and my hair came back.

You can take a lot of biotin over the normal percentage daily allowance and many formulas have something like 1200%. Try it if you are not allergic to iodine or shell fish. You can use a non-ammonia based hair dye to cover up the white patches, and they will eventually go away. If you try it and it works, comment and pass the word around. I am not a doctor but after a years research, I may have found the cure for alopecia areata!
It DID work for me!
