About Me:
Recently diagnosed with lichen planopilaris. It's devastating. Can't shave my head because of hair transplant scarring. Yes, I have male pattern baldness too. The hair transplants I had in 2008 turned out great! I was thrilled, until my hair started falling out again this year (2013) and I learned that hair transplants can actually activate lichen planopilaris. I can’t find anyone who truly specializes in this condition other than a doctor in Toronto whose waiting list is 12-18 months long, by which time I will have lost most or all of my hair and be left with profuse visible scarring. I’ve joined this group so that I don’t feel alone.

Thanks,

I think that the stress of my family members' cancer struggle and deaths brought on my FFA. After my husband's death, my in laws fought me in court for some of our matrimonial assets which they claim that he promised them and of which I knew nothing about. They ostracized  my children and I having told us that we were no longer family.  The sum total of all of these experiences have taken a great toll on us and we are trying to continue our lives with some sort od dignity.

Hi Spike,

I have just read your bio and I am grateful that you wrote of your experience.  I was thinking of doing the transplant when my scarring alopecia (FFA) burns out.  I am even scared to continue the injections since I think that the needle prick also activates the disease. I have no proof of this except to say that after the injections, I experienced the most hair loss.  You say that you are aware of a specialist in Toronto.  Would you be kind enough to give me his info so that I can get a referral? Where about in Canada are you located?

Thanks

Jen.
