- My name is Sierra and I have had alopecia since I was a young girl. I completely lost all my hair back in 4th grade, so that was some time ago now. Now being 21 and having alopecia be a big part in my life now, I have grown to accept and love myself just as much as I did when I had hair. I got my first human hair wig from Locks of Love in 9th grade, and that was a big change after going through about 5 or so years with just wearing a scarf on my head. :) And although I grew up having alopecia and my school friends/family knowing I had no hair with people now knowing I wear wigs as my hair, I don't talk about my alopecia all that much with people unless they notice right away that I draw my eyebrows on and have eyeliner on as eyelashes. I really hope to meet and talk with more people about rather than feel built up about it.
Lately, I have been letting my alopecia affect me more than I care to let on, and it hits me emotionally.
