I have had Alopecia for 17 years off and on, In 2007 I lost it all. It's been a very hard road, and I still have my moments. I just thank God of all the things I do have!!! I am married with two wonderful children, Tevin 12yrs old and my new baby Ashlynn who is 3 months old. I work in the medical field as a CMA Certified Medical Assistant and LOVE my job.
Tracy, thanks so much...you kinda explained it better than anyone...now, I guess "I get it" ...yes, a wig would slip on a bald head, I guess. It even moves about on my head, therefore, I am always "adjusting" and that is such a bother.
Thanks, Tracy. I guess I still don't "get it" when they state that you have to be bald to wear a vacuum wig...I mean, I don't need it to be sooo secure on my noggin' in case I go sky diving, or go out in a tornado..I mean really...my straggly thinning hair is so compact it can sit so flat underneath a wig..totally flat to my head...why do I need suction? I guess that is the part I don't "get"...as long as it fits my head, it would stay on, right? Wrong? Do you wear it daily and for how many hours? I would love something so comfortable I could wear it all day, every day...just take it off to sleep and shower.
Hello, Tracy..I read that you purchased an Amy's Presence and hate it....why is that?? It is not a vacuum, therefore, is it suitable for someone with diffuse hair loss, but not bald? And what do you hate about it?? You have to go thru some changes to even be able to get one of those wigs, like find a salon to go to, custom fit, and all of that..then they have to maintain it I think. Lots of bother and effort, but the cyberhair seems like it would be a good thing....not????
Hey Tracy :D
I don´t have a vacuume wig, just one with a plastic film in the inside, which is fixed with glue. My hair starts growing back (gwuad I´m so excited about that!!!) a little bit and the doctor told me better not to wear a wig again. So I did what he said and went to school with just a scarf on my head. Even though acceptance and support were great, I somehow feel so bad about it... I don´t know why but I wish I didn´t ...
I can´t get used to our problem as well, but I guess we have to keep on fighting and living our lives :) I´m sure you´re strong and can cope with it very well :)

Hi :)
how are you?
thank you for the lovly comment. Actually I don´t feel too good wearing my wig. I just don´t look like myself and its a bit uncomfortable. I know this sounds crazy :D
I really like your hair. It looks so naturally and fits so well. Do you use a vacuum wig or a lace wig?

Hi Tracy, that is exactly what happened to me --I had patches for about 20 years and then it all fell out. What a bummer. How are you doing today?

Hi Tracy, I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you to Alopecia World. I have been living with Alopecia Areata since 1991 and know full well the struggle it can be. I look forward to getting to know you. Cheryl, Co-founder
