Can Hair fall more quickly when you start wearing a wig?

Hello I just have a question, I have noticed that my hair is falling quicker and the parts where I still have hair you can really see scalp, I believe that it has been happening due to my recent lace wig.. It is just a guess.. Has anybody experienced that before?

I think it's just the progression of this disease. The hair falls out at different rates for no apparent reason. Starts slow and picks up the pace. I've worn wigs for 37 years and have had growth. I'm pretty sure there's no connection between loss of hair and wig use.

The only times that I know of a wig causing hair loss are:

When wearing a comercial wig and you don't wear a wig cap/liner; because of the friction or tention of bindings of attachment.

When attaching/removing a lace front incorrectly. Remember to stay clear of your natural hair when applying the adhesive. Always take your time, allowing the adhesive remover to break down the bond before gently removing it from your head.

If you are doing those things correctly, you should be fine. You may have just freaked out because your eyes hadn't ajdusted from seeing the diffrence in the hair density from your wig to your natural hair

You definitely don't want your hair to sour or mildew. So, I suggest you only shampoo when the wig isn't attached. Shampooing while the wig is attached can disturb the bond. Whatever you need to know, I can tell you. No problem.

Harmony now that you mention it I do have another question, I have problems with my stocking cap (the one that holds your hair before putting the wig on) after 2-3 days it just shrinks in and stays in the crown of my head, I have tryed to glue the stocking cap as well but then the glue is not as good with the wig... I wonder if there is something else I can do.

Also, if I should not wash my hair while wearing the wig, it means that I should be taking the wig off at least once a week to was my own hair.. can that damage the wig?
Thanks once again for answering all my questions I really apprecite that even though you don't suffer from alopecia you are still so emphatic with our community, that is honorable.

Hi Grace- I can't really say if my hair is falling out faster but what i have noticed is that i've started losing the hair from my front hair line which has never, in these 3 years happened before, i definitely think it's got a connection with the fact that i started wearing a wig about 3 months ago- maybe its the pull obn the hair bu having it really pulled back in the front- but im not sure :S
All the best! xxx
