Tonight, while putting Nnea to sleep, she asked me to stay and cuddle for a minute 'on her pillow'. I thought I'd share our conversation...

"Mom, can you stay a yiddle bit?"

"No, Sweetie. You need to go to sleep now."

"Pease? Just one cuddle on my pillow???" (??? denotes this little high pitched thing she does at the end of her questions)

"Alright. Just for a minute..."

"Sanks, Mom." Nnea then starts to caress my face and cheeks. She says "You have pretty cheekses, Mom."

"Thank you, Baby. I love your cheeks, too."

"...and nice eyebows..."

I smile at her.

"...and nice hair..."

"You're beautiful, too, Nnea."

"...'I' have nice hair" she says, as she caresses her own head, and then looks over at me, amused. She rolls her eyes. "Oh, wait. 'I' don't have hair. 'Isley' has hair! I just have my...my...my head on my head!"

I touch her perfect baby soft skin and say to her "that's right. You're beautiful without hair. God made you special that way. You have nice little eyebrows..."

Lynnea looks over at me, wrinkles up her little nose and says with all the honest appreciation of this moment, "sanks, Mom. I lud you."

Look past the glaringly obvious, appreciate the small details, and cherish the everyday moments that may reveal true beauty. That's what I learn from my 2 year old.

Lynnea is unbelievably observant, and wise, for her 2 wee years. She also communicates very well (she was talking in sentances by just after the 1 year mark), so she's able to tell me exactly what's on her mind. I have other memories jotted down, that I may share on my blog that just blow me away every time I re-read them. I learn so much from my two girls, and am blessed by them day by day.

Thank you for sharing that very special moment with us! I love when my neices and nephews talk about my head...once my neice was convinced that if my hair grew back it would be purple...it made all the sense in the world to her since purple was my favorite color :-)
Keep Shining!

She is starting to understand that she has no hair. Ross dont know he has no hair yet. He still tries to brush his hair because when he was 1 and had hair he brushed it.
I wanted to say that the comment your sister made, She said God makes no mistakes made my day so much better. Its one of those things we know we just need to hear it.

This is the cutest story! Your daughter has such a great attitude.....which undoubtedly comes from having an amazing mother who is instilling great values in her daughter. I am nervous that when I have children they will have alopecia and I won‘t know how to explain why this happened and how to make them see with or with out hair they are beautiful…..but your story is a great example of how to do this!! I have learned a huge lesson from your story …thank you so much for sharing!:)

Ahhhh lovely story, kids are just great they have this great attitude towards everything my little Alfie he was 2 last month is just realising that his mummy is different, he likes to give my head a slap and thinks its hilarious but recently when he has come to our room in the morning i will be putting on make up and he brings my wig over for me to put on, i think he prefers mummy with hair, but he sees me all day with my wig its only in the evening I take it off, and he is usually sleeping, he is only 2 and probably finds it odd that i can take my hair off lol.
Your little girl is going to be a strong confidant girl reading your blogs you adore your kids and all a child needs to become a strong confident person is loads and loads of love and support whether they have alopecia or not.

Lynnea is so precious!! It never ceases to amaze me how children, no matter how young they are, tend to be so perceptive and accepting of just about anything when it is presented and explained in the proper context.

You guys have a great week -- give the girls a big hug for me!!!
