My hands are shaking as I try to type this blog post. Not because I'm upset or scared about anything, but because I'm elated. I've just finished an impromptu dance party with my girls, and I'm exhausted. I was surfing this site, and decided to let my playlist run through all 16 songs. The three of us turned it up loud, crammed into the tiny computer room, and danced ourselves silly. I'm so glad that we had time to be crazy together! I'm so glad that I took the time to be crazy with them.
Too often I get caught up with the events of the week...with the shift work, and the house work, and the chaffuering of little people here and there. My girls, thankfully, are very forgiving, and we have a happy homelife, but spontaneity doesn't often get the chance to work it's cheerful little way into our routine. It's morning time, school time, work time, dinner time, bath time and bed time.
As I type this, my dishes are sitting, unwashed and piled up in my sink. My laundry is folded, but resting comfortably on my dinner table. My floors are littered with toys, and bits of paper, and debris. My floors are spotted and speckled. All glaring reminders of how I could have spent my day.
Instead, we slept in. We ate breakfast at our leisure. We met friends for lunch. We had naps. We went shopping. We had dinner at Nana and Nada's (Grandpa), we played with cardboard boxes and playdough. And we danced until our legs felt like jelly and we were out of breath.
I'm SO thankful that I ignored the housework. I'm getting better at doing that. I know that it's a responsibility as well, and it will be addressed, but in order of priority.
Time is our currency. We need to consider our investments. Spend it wisely. Shower those we love with it. We've all won an equal lottery. What a gift, really.
I encourage you all to have an impromptu dance party. Man, it's good for the soul! You're welcome to use my playlist, if you'd like (wink).
