Been looking at different wigs on the internet. Can any one offer me any advise as to what kind of wig to buy. Have 4 bald spots and just want to cover them with a wig, when I go to work. I do not know the diference between synthetic and monofilament. Can not spend a thousand dollars...but would like the wig to look natural. Would appreciate any imput. Thank You

I go personnally to try them on in the wig shop, take color swatches into the sun out the door to see if they are too fakey in sunlight, and try on may styles. I settle on one or two, then imagine all the places I plan to wear one or whom I want to impress at work for the next year...and then I buy my annual synthetic birthday wig for less than $250.00!!

The best advice: Go to a wig shop. See if they have integrated hair pieces(ones you can pull through your own hair), falls, or other devices so you may not have to shave your hair right away to wear a wig. Honestly, keeping your own hair and wearing a wig is a bother not to mention hot. Also look at lace cap wigs where you use tape or glue to keep them on. Go to utube and check out the lace cap wig demos. This can give you an idea if the lace wig is a direction you want to go in.

Hi Katie. For your first wig, I recommend that you go to a wig shop. The wig specialist will assist you with finding a wig that fits your style. The hair on synthetic wigs is made from plastic fibers. The benefit of having a synthetic wig is that it is easy to take care of and inexpensive. Unfortunately, you cannot be near heat while you are wearing the wig as the wig will become damaged. You can also get a human hair wig. This will give you a more natural look. You are able to style it any way that you wish. Unfortunately, human hair wigs are high maintenance and expensive. Monofilament refers to the type of wig cap. The monofilament is a mesh like material located at the crow of the wig that acts as your "scalp". In my opinion, It is the most natural looking synthetic wig on the market. Synthetic wigs cost anywhere from $30-$500. Please keep in mind that what you pay for is what you get. It is worth it to make the investment in a wig that's going to last you a long time. If you take good care of your wig, a synthetic wig will last 1-2 years. I hope this helps.
