Saturday was my day of Independence, after having AA for more than 40 years, I decided to shave my head bald, thus freeing myself from wigs, weaves and haircovers. The feeling was exhilarating, it was a celebration of all that I am, especially, a "free bird". My 4 daughters, my son, 3 grand daughters and 2 son-in-laws were all a part of the celebration, each taking a turn to cut strands of hair from my head before my son, shaved it bald. I will post before and after pictures shortly. My bald head is beautiful, I love it! Tell be about your experience if you've shaved your head because of AA, how did you feel?

Congrats on taking that step! I'm glad you're feeling so great! I just shaved my head a couple weeks ago (just buzzed it for now, didn't grab that razor yet). If you wanna read about it you can check out my blog.

Hugs,

Happy Independance Day! I had mine during my 17th summer after I graduated from High School. I remember staring into the mirror and thinking, "What am I waiting for?" I had alopecia all my life and I finally came to the realization that it wasn't ever going to be normal again. So I shaved all the white peach fuzz off. Boy, did that feel wierd! I walked outside where my family was enjoying the sun. My Dad looked up from his book and said, "It's about GD time you finally did that!" That was his way of saying he thought I should have done it sooner. Oh well. Anyway, I've kept the fuzz under control ever since. I shave about ever two weeks or so and a Norelco lasts for years at that rate! :)

Thank all of you for your posts and worlds of support, what a big step...whooohoooo! Sometimes when I leave my house, I think, "oooops, I forgot my wig", then I realize, heck, I don't wear wigs anymore and I remember how free I truly am!
