So I've finally decided to update and add to my profile here at Alopecia World. Time has been so scarce for me lately - I'm a master at procrastination despite the two jobs I'm working and summer school. Moving back down to Irvine the past couple of weeks has taken a toll on me too. Who knew college would become increasingly more stressful as time moves forward?
The week before I moved I went out to SF to see Miss Peggy again to order a new wig. Time for a change, and not to mention my current wig is quite literally falling apart. I'm surprised it held up for so long - over 3 years, when normally an everyday-wear wig holds for about 2 apparently. But now the entire front piece is about to be disconnected from the back and I don't get my new wig until September. I don't use the wig tape anymore in fear of damaging the netting even more. I go through the day with tight headbands wrapped around my head, which I'm sure is the root cause of the headache I'm feeling right now.
Last week I gave in and went on thewigs.com and ordered a cheap human hair wig. Well, cheap as in a little over $100. I have money saved up and I'm paying for it myself without telling my parents. I feel guilty because I will be getting a new wig in a month - one that's costing quite a bit - but any second now I anticipate my wig will just break apart and fall off my head as I'm walking to work. In fact, strands of hair are falling out as I type. It's really uncomfortable, and a shame too. I really liked this wig. Ah, it did me well though in those last years of high school.
And now I'm sick! Boo. I gave in and went to the Health Center today (my loathing of doctors originating from my childhood days of being probed and prodded still hasn't went away) because I knew my asthma had randomly flared back up, after 10 years of being on hiatus. Not only that, I apparently have an infection in my tonsils. Ew. Hopefully the antibiotics the doctor prescribed will cure it. Too bad I'm terrible at swallowing pills! =(
So it's hot water for me right now...and a healthy supply of cough drops (well, not really healthy, I go through them way too fast, which is not a good thing), my shiny new inhaler, icky red pills to swallow...and a new book to keep me dazzled and distracted. Ever heard of Twilight? I'm sure you have, it's the newest fad what with the movie coming out soon. I finally bought a copy of the book at Barnes & Nobles last weekend before seeing Wall-E (go see it!!) and haven't been able to put it down as of late. I'm halfway through and I want it to go on forever. Sigh...
Why do I always find midterm-time the perfect time to procrastinate? =P
