A Good Day at the Barn with only a bandana!

Its funny to me that I used to go to school only wearing a baseball cap and play soccer with only a bandana on and that I later felt completely uncomfortable wearing just those things. Maybe it was all those teenage hormones that made me feel like I had to wear a wig 24/7, but thankfully I just don't care anymore!

On Sunday I went to the barn where I keep my horse, and generally I use my "barn hair" that is generally the oldest wig that I own that I wouldn't use for school anymore, but instead I just put on a bandana and went. Nobody at my barn knew that I have alopecia so I was pretty sure they would be a little shocked (at least the unobservant ones lol), since I didn't give any warning. Granted my "barn hair" was in pretty bad shape (synthetic rene of paris wig) and I was sure SOMEBODY had to have noticed it wasn't real. And I don't know, maybe they were a little shocked but they didn't say anything to me! I was a little shocked that no one said anything or wasn't curious enough to ask any questions, not that I am complaining lol I really don't mind either way! Besides that I had a blast. It was the first time in two weeks that I had been able to ride because of school and work and it was just amazing. It wasn't super hot and humid since it had just finished raining, Romeo (my horse) was behaving himself, and I was finally able to give him a hug without worrying about some stupid wig. I don't know if any of you have lived through a Georgia summer, but let me tell you they are hot and humid, and kind of make you feel like you are being smothered in a warm hot blanket. Ugh. Last summer I was just so frustrated because wearing a wig was so uncomfortable after running around for 3 hours and sweating like crazy (not to mention terrible allergies). Every time my wig got in my face I was really ready to just punch something. This year I think has been a good one for me because even though my health is sucky and everything, I finally realized I couldn't care less about what other people think about me wearing or not wearing a wig. I believe you have to make your own happiness and now I finally feel free to look however I want.

So heres me looking forward to a great wig free summer!

Yes, you sound liberated! I just got finished responding to a blog where the guy talked about hiding behind baseball caps. I did it for many, many years, so I think I can understand your joy.

A big day for you, great!
