Hi Everyone,
Has anyone tried Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs with any success with helping hair loss?
We have a Community Acupuncture Practice here in South FL. Basically you sit in a group, in these gravity chairs and the doctor places needles in particular points on the body to open up the energy meridians. You sit there quietly for about 45min to 1hr. The herbs are to help balance out what area according to Chinese medicine that is weak. In addition to alopecia, I have other health problems. So I will try for 90 days.
One of the problems I have always had with my alopecia is the fact the Dermatologist would say "it is my body's immune system attacking the hair follicle", but they would never say why it is happening and how to stop it from happening.

Hi Aimee, I have been on the herbs now 2 weeks and have gone weekly for the acupuncture sessions 3x. Today was the first day after eating my dinner meal, I did not have gas. Hopeful for the future.
Good luck Ericka, I would love to hear your take on the treatment after you have had some time to observe your progress.
Also if you don't mind sharing: how much does it cost you the herbs and acupuncture-- I am assuming insurance wouldn't cover this sorta thing?
Hi Kristie,
We have community acupuncture offices here is south FL. Because you sit in a group and not in a private room this is cheaper. The price ranges from 20-30 a visit. They recommend you come at least 1x a week. I am writing down what is happening while going to acupuncture and while taking the herbs. I will mostly likely update my book on Amazon with chronicles my hair loss journey http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J3QJMUG. I will say this first time I went (after you are stuck, you lay there for 45min-1hr) I felt a slight shudder through my body. I just went for the fifth time and the sensation around certain needles was very strong. According to them this is the Qi that was stuck finding movement. What the outcome will be, I'm not sure, but do have reactions.
Ok, thanks Mariah
