I have had Alopecia Areata ever since i can remember. I think my mom first noticed bald patched when i was 2 years old. Well they never became big enough for me to really notice until 2011. In 2011, i lost about 50% of my hair and have been getting steriod shots in my head every 4 weeks. Its been a roller coaster really...It would regrow and everything would be good then it would get way worse again. Oct, 2016 i lost about 60% to 70% of my head, i shaved it. By the way,....BEST decision ever made k? Well, its been about one whole month since i have shaved it. I had a few really dark patches growing rapidly in random spots. I was thinking maybe this is where i had my last injections. But other then that nothing...maybe im being impatient but the only hairs i feel or kind of see are extremely thin and nearly invisible. What does this mean ? am i being impatient with my regrowth or is it normal?
P.S. Im new to this site, say hello :)

Steroid injections take time, I have done them off and on for the last 24 years. Be patient! Best of Luck to you!
Patience is clearly a virtue. The few patches of hair that have sprouted on my head since being diagnosed with AU 18 months ago have also been very thin and light. Three weeks ago I decided to shave them off and start fresh with the new year. Although I haven't had new growth, the shaved hairs are growing back darker and thicker.
Please keep us posted on your progress.
